ALBANY, NY (05/17/2013) 3x World Champion, Gene Mills and the Pin2Win Combat team to join the New York Titans in their fight against Leukemia. 3x World Champion, Gene Mills and the Pin2Win Combat team join an already elite list of combatants against Leukemia this Memorial Day weekend. All-star teams from Connecticut (Silverback Wrestling) and New Jersey (North Jersey Warriors) are also new to the Match Against Leukemia. Each of these new competitors will look to dethrone last years finalists, Parkside South Wrestling Club from Winston-Salam, North Carolina (4A State Dual Team Wrestling Champions- 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013) and the New York Titans (4th -2011 NHSCA Eastern Nationals and 3rd 2011 NHSCA National Open) in the fifth annual Match against Leukemia.The Match against Leukemia is a wrestling event held in memory of Sol Kahn '06 on Memorial Day weekend, with proceeds benefiting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society: held at The Albany Academies Field House (located at 135 Academy Road in Albany, New York) The competition begins Saturday, May 25th at 10:00 a.m. Solomon Jochnowitz-Kahn joined the Titan Wrestling Club as a 10th grader. He was one of six founding members of a fledgling club in 2004. The club is now one of the premier travel teams in the Capital District. Sol's life goal was to become a public servant a truly selfless role in the community. He was committed to his community and his dream was to work in the field of Law Enforcement. He was accepted to attend the University of Rochester in the fall of 2006. Sol was diagnosed with Leukemia in January 2006, and had a very aggressive type Philadelphia Chromosome.The Match against Leukemia features local clubs such as: South Colonie Elite, Ravena Fury, Excelsior Wrestling and the host Titans battling travel teams located throughout the northeast region such as: Ironman wrestling (Dutchess County, NY); Canastota Wrestling (Madison County, NY), Pin2Win Combat Force (Syracuse, NY); Rockland Force (Rockland County, NY), Gate City Wrestling (New Hampshire); North Jersey Warriors (NJ); Silverback Wrestling Club (CT) and the Parkside South Wrestling Club (North Carolina). Although fierce rivals on the mat, these clubs are working together off the mat to help defeat Leukemia. This is a great example of the local wrestling community coming together to support the fight against blood cancers while honoring and remembering one of their own.
