Funky 2.0: Keegan Levels Up

Keegan O'Toole had success as a youth wrestler, but it started to take a toll on him. He began to feel pressure to train hard and win from his dad and youth environment. He joined Askren Wrestling Academy, focused more on having fun and found a new passion for the sport. He began to climb the ranks and compete at the national level in high school but continued to fall short despite being one of the best. After blowing a couple matches at the Cadet World Team Trials, Ben Askren had a talk with Keegan that changed everything. His new perspective on the sport helped him to reach new heights in the sport including a Junior World title and NCAA title which he would have to earn after suffering a high ankle sprain early in the tournament.

Dunia Sibomana won a New York high school state title as an 8th grader. He grew up in the Congo and when he was six years old, he and two relatives were attacked by chimpanzees. Dunia was the only one who survived the attack, but his face was severely damaged and he had lost a finger. Eventually Dunia was brought to the USA for surgery. In the process he met Miguel Rodriguez, a wrestling coach in Long Island, New York. The two hit if off and Miguel ended up adopting Dunia. Dunia has gone on to thrive and ended up winning a New York high school state title as an 8th grader.

Dunia Sibomana is from the Congo and survived a chimpanzee attack when he was six years old. He came the the United State on a medical visa. He met Miguel Rodriguez, a wrestling coach who eventually adopted Dunia. As an 8th grader Dunia won a high school state title in New York and is thriving on and off the mat.

Roman Bravo-Young is a multiple time NCAA Champion wrestler for Penn State University, but his road to get there was anything but easy. Roman grew up in the tough town of South Tucson, AZ. His family life wasn't ideal with an absent father and struggling mother. RBY was introduced to wrestling and trained by his grandfather. He lived in several different homes with different people as he was growing up. Roman Bravo-Young is a 2x NCAA Champion for the most dominant force in college wrestling in the 21st century. Penn State. But his road here has been hasn't been easy. As a child in the tough town of South Tucson, AZ his upbringing was less than ideal. He bounced around and lived with different people as he was growing up. From a young age RBY was trained hard by his grandpa. And over the years that hard work payed off. While the environment around him was loud and chaotic, Roman remained calm, kept his eyes open and his mouth shut, and avoided the pitfalls of those before him. Now, with the right guidance, Roman has gone on to became the first person in his family to go to college and eventually graduating from Penn State as he chases his third straight NCAA title.

Roman Bravo-Young standout wrestler at Penn State University. Along winning a pair of NCAA titles, RBY is a fan favorite when is comes to NCAA wrestlers. But most people don't know his story. Roman grew up in the tough town of South Tucson, with a father who was never involved in his life and a mother who was dealing with her own demons. RBY saw lots of things growing up, violence, drugs use, gangs and more. Many of those who Roman grew up around fell into those negative aspects of life. But not Roman. The sport of wrestling, an incredible inner drive, along with a grandfather who was both caring and overbearing, all helped Roman to stay on the right path to not only survive an upbringing in South Tucson, but to thrive and have the success he has attained. He stayed disciplined and focused and overcame a lot to not only win two national titles, but he was also the first person in his family to go to and graduate from college. This film premiers on January 31, 2023.
