As reported by Chet Davis of 6 News WRGB Albany, Wrestling was not being treated the same as other high school sports in New York.

While wrestlers won't have an officially sanctioned State Championship this year, they will have the opportunity to compete for a state title against their most accomplished New York peers.

The Journeymen/RUDIS NYS Championships will be hosted in Pennsylvania and are open to the first 450 eligible wrestlers. Qualifying criteria are available on the Journeymen website, and interest already appears to be high for this event.

In addition to offering a traditional folkstyle championship, the Journeymen NYS Championships will also have an affiliated freestyle tournament. The Freestyle Championships is called Journeymen Freestyle Championships and will showcase the best freestylers in the country. It will have both a boys and girls division. Both the folkstyle and freestyle championship events will be sponsored by The RUDIS.
