Get ready for a bevy of barn-burning matchups when three top-20 programs collide in Ames, Iowa Sunday.

Iowa State, 10th in the current National Wrestling Coaches Association rankings, hosts a triangular competition that also includes No. 9 Missouri, and No. 20 Northern Iowa. No. 11 Arizona State was originally scheduled to participate as well but were forced to cancel due to covid protocols.

The Tigers face the Cyclones, and Panthers. The Cyclones and Panthers do not square off Sunday, but the Big 12 rivals will meet at Northern Iowa on Feb. 13.

Missouri is 5-0, including a win over then-No. 21 Central Michigan, while Iowa State is 3-0. Northern Iowa is 2-0.

Here is a look at the most intriguing potential matches:

149 pounds: No. 3 Brock Mauller (Missouri) vs. No. 5 Jarrett Degen (Iowa State)

The two 2020 NWCA first-team All-Americans did not meet last season, but wrestled each four times during the 2018-19 season, each winning two decisions.

Mauller, a junior, won the last meeting, edging Degen 10-7 at the 2019 NCAA Championships. He also took a 12-6 decision earlier that season. Degen beat Mauller by scores of 11-4 and 7-4.

Mauller, a two-time NCAA qualifier, was sixth at the 2019 NCAA Championships. He is also a two-time Mid-American Conference champion, who finished 28-1 last season with six major decisions and two technical falls.

Mauller has won 21 straight matches dating back to last season and his career mark is 66-6. He won the U23 65-kilogram freestyle title at the UWW U23 and Junior Nationals in November, beating Oklahoma's Dom Demas, a 2019 All-American who is ranked sixth at 141 pounds, in the finals.

Degen, a senior, is a three-time NCAA qualifier, who was seventh at the 2019 NCAA Championships and reached the round of 12 in 2018. He was 16-4 last season and owns a 68-23 career mark.

285 pounds: No. 7 Gannon Gremmel (Iowa State) vs. No. 8 Zach Elam (Missouri)

Elam vs. No. 10 Carter Isley (Northern Iowa)

Gremmel and Elam have met once with Gremmel taking a 3-2 decision on Feb. 24, 2019.

Gremmel, a senior and two-time NCAA qualifier, finished 24-8 last season and was named a second-team NWCA All-American. He took third in the U23 freestyle competition at the UWW U23 and Junior Nationals.

Gremmel is off to a 3-0 start this season and his career record stands at 73-30.

Elam, a sophomore, is back after taking an Olympic redshirt last season and has plunged right into fierce competition, already facing three top-15 opponents.

He has beaten ninth-ranked Brian Andrews (Wyoming) and No. 15 Brandon Metz (North Dakota State) while falling to fourth-ranked Matt Stencel (Central Michigan). Elam is 4-1 overall.

Elam was 25-11 as a true freshman and reached the NCAA Championships round of 12. Elam's wins included six major decisions and five pins.

Isley and Elam have not wrestled each other yet. Isley, a senior, was an NCAA qualifier last season and finished 20-10. He is 2-0 this season, including a win over Metz. Isley's career mark is 59-30.

141 pounds: No. 4 Ian Parker (Iowa State) vs. No. 11 Allan Hart (Missouri)

They have met once, more than two years ago. Parker, now a senior, won decisively with a 13-5 decision on Nov. 4, 2018. However, it was Hart's first-ever collegiate match and he was redshirting that season.

Both have enjoyed plenty of success since then.

Parker, a two-time NCAA qualifier, was Big 12 champion last season, beating sixth-ranked Dom Demas (Oklahoma) in the title match. In the process, Parker avenged two previous losses to Demas, a 2019 All-American.

He finished the season 22-3 and was named a first-team NWCA All-American.

Parker was third in the freestyle 61kg U23 bracket at the UWW U23 and Freestyle Nationals, knocking off Iowa's Austin DeSanto in the third-place match. DeSanto, a 2019 All-American, is currently ranked fourth at 133. Parker also bested Pittsburgh's Micky Phillipi, a first-team 2020 NWCA All-American, during the tournament. Phillipi is ranked fifth at 133.

Parker is 3-0 this season and owns a 66-21 career record.

Hart, a junior, is off to a 4-0 start, including wins over three ranked wrestlers -- No. 12 Dresden Simon (Central Michigan), No. 18 Grant Willits (Oregon State) No. 22 Clay Carlson (South Dakota State). Hart pinned Willits, a two-time NCAA qualifier, in 36 seconds.

Hart finished 20-9 last season and was an NCAA qualifier. In all, 65 percent of his victories came via pin (five), major decision (five) or technical fall (three). Hart has a 33-15 career record.

157 pounds: No. 3 David Carr (Iowa State) vs. Jarrett Jacques (Missouri)

Carr and Jacques have not met on the mat, but both boast strong credentials, making this one of Sunday's most interesting matchups. For one thing, they both won conference championships as freshmen.

Carr, a sophomore, is No. 23 in the pound-for-pound rankings and off to a 3-0 start.

He finished 18-1 last season, losing only to top-ranked Ryan Deakin of Northwestern, and was an NCAA qualifier. Carr became just the eighth freshman to capture a Big 12 title, knocking off eighth-ranked Wyatt Sheets (Oklahoma State) in the final.

Carr, who captured a World Junior championship in 2019, won five matches by major decision, two by pin and two by technical fall last season. He was named a NWCA first-team All-American.

Jacques, a junior and two-time NCAA qualifier, has started 4-0 this season, including wins over No. 16 Jared Franek (North Dakota State), No. 17 Hunter Willits (Oregon State) and No. 19 Jacob Wright (Wyoming).

He finished 25-7 last season with four technical falls, four major decisions and two pins and was an honorable mention NWCA All-American. Jacques was second in the Mid-American Conference after winning the MAC as a true freshman.

He boasts a 56-15 career record.
