2020 national qualifier Michael Blockhus is headed north to Minneapolis. The redshirt sophomore announced his decision Monday via Twitter.
Blessed to say I’m going to be going to the U of Minnesota as a gopher this next semester. Ready to go to work. Thank you to all of my friends and family for all of their support throughout this process. Let’s go win some titles. #GopherTough〽️ pic.twitter.com/9qJfEkveUs

This announcement comes one week after Blockhus announced he would be leaving Northern Iowa and entered the transfer portal.
A big pickup for the Gophers, Blockhus went 22-10 last year, finished fifth at the Big 12 tournament and was the 13-seed at the NCAA Championships. Although he has spent all of last season and his redshirt season at 141 lbs, Blockhus is expected to go up to 149 in 2021. Meaning Brayton Lee, another 2020 national qualifier, will most likely be moving up to 157 lbs.
