#19 Michigan invades the Bob Devaney Sports Center looking to upset #7 Nebraska Despite the Wolverines Olympic redshirting All-Americans Stevan Micic, Logan Massa, and Myles Amine, there will still be a total of 13 ranked wrestlers stepping on to the mat.

Here we go Tim and Jim are coming through my TV speaker and I can see the captains shaking hands. Should be just a minute now until Peyton Robb and Will Lewan take the mat.

157 lbs: Peyton Robb, Nebraska vs Will Lewan, Michigan

1st: Peyton Robb gets on the board first with a snap down to an arm drag to a takedown 45 seconds in. Lewan is able to get to his feet and escape quickly after. Now a fireman's attempt off a two-on-one for Robb, but sprawled and fended off by Lewan. A flurry at the end, but no points. 2-1 Robb.

2nd: Robb goes down. Robb gets to his feet and escapes 20 seconds in. Both guys hand fighting hard, but neither really committing to a shot. And that's how the period will end. 3-1 Robb.

3rd: Lewan starts down. 10 seconds in and Lewan gets his escape. Lewan firing off a couple shots, but really able to get past the first few lines of defense of Robb. Now with 45 seconds left, Robb gets his for his first stalling. Lewan gets in on a left side single, Robb comes off to the side and locks in the crotch, but Lean able to pop his head and get the takedown with 14 seconds left. Now Robb to his feat, but Lewan is able to hold on. Clutch takedown from Robb to win the battle of talented freshman.

Michigan 3, Nebraska 0


165 lbs: #5 Isaiah White, Nebraska vs Tyler Meisinger, Michigan

1st: Isaiah White comes out right off the whistle, digs in underhooks, and bullies Meisinger to the mat. Now White chooses to go neutral off a restart with 1:30 left. Meisinger attempts a shot, but gets extended and White picks up the easy go behind. Now Meisinger hit for his second stalling. And White will finish the period on top, up 5-1, and 2:32 of riding time.

2nd: White starts down. quickly stands up and escapes. A shot and quick finish for White, he now leads 8-1. Meisinger is able to escape with just a few seconds left, but he'll be down 8-2 and White has almost 4 minutes of riding time.

3rd: Meisinger starts down. White doesn't give much of an attempt to ride and Meisinger escapes immediately. Neither wrestler being extremely offensive. Now White locks up a body lock and takes Meisinger down with under 30 seconds, but Meisinger is able to escape with 2 seconds left to fend off the major. White wins 11-4.

Michigan 3, Nebraska 3


174 lbs: #6 Mikey Labriola, Nebraska vs Max Maylor, Michigan

1st: Labriola comes out wearing Kyle Ruettiger to honor him on senior night. Pretty cool, but did confuse me and the announcers for a second. Any way, Labriola comes out and gets a quick takedown, lets Maylor go, and then shoots a low double and picks up another takedown. Another escape from Maylor and another quick takedown from Labriola. He's up 7-2 two minutes in. Another escape for Maylor and this time he's able to fend off a couple of attacks from Labriola who leads 7-3.

2nd: Labriola starts down. Takes just 5 seconds for Labriola to escape. Maylor fires off a counter shot, but Labriola picks up the go behind. Labriola riding tough with the right leg in. Maylor called for stalling, one more point for Labriola. 

3rd: Maylor starts down. Quick escape but then a beautiful takedown for Labriola and he cuts him. Stalling called on Maylor as Labriola gets another takedown. He's pouring it on now. Two more escapes and two more takedowns for Labriola and he wins by technical fall. 23-8.

Update: Ruettiger just a junior, but the announcers say he is the nephew of Rudy, as in the movie.

Nebraska 8, Michigan 3


184 lbs: #11 Taylor Venz, Nebraska vs #20 Jelani Embree, Michigan

1st: Right off the whistle, Venz goes snap down, arm drag, and go behind for the takedown. Embree stands up and escapes at the 2:30 mark. Ankle pic from Venz and he gets two more. Embree escapes, but that's how the period ends. 

2nd: Embree starts down. Extremelly slick duck under form Venz and he goes right into a roll through tilt. Embree gets to his belly and then to his feet. Another takedown from Venz off of an Embree shot and he finishes the period on top up 12-6.

3rd: Venz starts down. Venz hits a switch and picks up a reversal as they go out of bounds. Venz is looking great tonight, is up 14-4. Now just as I say that, Embree picks up a reversal. Immediately comes out in front, looking for a fall, but Venz gets to his feet. And that's how it ends. Venz 16-6 with riding time.

Nebraska 12, Michigan 3


197 lbs: #8 Eric Schultz, Nebraska vs Jackson Striggow, Michigan

1st: 1:30 in, no points scored yet, but a lot of good hand fighting. Both guys trying to dig underhooks and control the inside tie. Schultz with a nice sequence - tries a step in single, doesn't get it, Striggow goes standing front headlock, and then Schultz hits a nice far side knee pick. Striggow immediately escapes and then Striggow is called for stalling as they go out of bounds. 201 Schultz.

2nd: Schultz starts down. Quick stand up and an escape. Schultz gets in on Striggow's leg on the edge, stand up, pulls him in, and gets the far leg for the takedown. Schultz called for stalling as he staid down below the waist for five seconds and they restart. Striggow stands up and escapes. That's how the period ends 5-2 Schultz.

3rd: Striggow starts down and gets the quick escape. Schultz handling this match, but escapes are keeping Striggow in it. Now Striggow called for his second stalling, point Schultz. Schultz still attacking, but potentially dangerous called and the match will end, 6-3 Schultz.

Nebraska 15, Michigan 3

285 lbs: David Jensen, Nebraska vs #2 Mason Parris, Michigan

And we're back!

1st: Mason Parris in on a step in single, Jensen does a good job of scrambling, but after Parris is able to come out on top 35 seconds in. Parris riding tough with a good variety of mat returns. Now Parris lock up a bar arm on the left side, gets Jensen over, and quickly picks up the fall.

Nebraska 15, Michigan 9


125 lbs: Alex Thomsen, Nebraska vs #22 Jack Medley, Michigan

1st: 2 minutes in and still no score. Thomsen gets in deep on a high crotch, but Medley does a better job of squaring up and getting his hips back. A lot of movement and a lot of collar tie pulling from each guy, but no score.

2nd: Thomsen starts down. Step over, granby type cartwheel for an escape. Medley get in on a single leg, but Thomsen goes shin whizzer and holds for a stalemate. Thomsen shoots, but Medley drapes over top, grabs ankles, and gets the stalemate. Now Medley gets in on a single and this time he does finish with 15 seconds left in the period. Medley gets the rideout, he leads 2-1.

3rd: Medley starts down. Medley hip heists out just six seconds into the period. Now Medley gets to a front headlock and puts his head in the hole. Thomsen tries to hip over top, but Medley gets the takedown. And after spending a while on his belly, Thomsen gets called for stalling. And with riding time, Medley wins 6-1.

Nebraska 15, Michigan 12


133 lbs: #11 Ridge Lovett, Nebraska vs Austin Assad, Michigan

1st: Redshirt senior vs true freshman here in Assad and Lovett. Assad tries to go 360 double from a two-on-one, but Lovett feels it and perfectly defends for the takedown. Lovett locks up a far side cradle, Assad locks up Lovett's bottom leg, but it doesn't matter, Lovett still torques him over and picks up four back points. And Lovett rides out Assad to end the first. 6-0 Lovett.

2nd: Lovett starts down. Assad riding tough, Lovett able to get to his feet, but just can't escape. Now Assad called for stalling they go out of bounds. And now Lovett back to his feet and gets Assad called for stalling again, so that one's a point, but Assad stays on top. And it happens again! Another point for Lovett. So Assad rides out Lovett, but gives up a couple of stalling points.

3rd: Assad wisely chooses neutral. Lovetts gets in on a single, but not able to finish as they go out of bounds. Now Lovetts is able to score off of Assad's shot with 14 seconds left. And that's how it will end 11-0 Lovett.

Nebraska 19, Michigan 12


141 lbs: #6 Chad Red, Nebraska vs Cole Mattin, Michigan

1st: Right away Mattin gets in on a single, but Red defends and now he's got a cradle locked up! It's takes a while, but the ref does call the fall and Chad Red is pumped up! He flexes to the crowd and that will lock up dual for the Huskers.

Nebraska 25, Michigan 12


149 lbs: #16 Collin Purinton, Nebraska vs #12 Kanen Storr, Michigan

1st: And finally 1:30 in we get our first shot of the match: a blast double from Purinton and he takes the 2-0 lead. And some blood time now as Purinton has a bloody nose. Escape Storr with 50 seconds left. Now a beautiful far side low single across Purinton's body from Storr. And he gets the rideout to lead 3-2.

2nd: Purinton starts down. Looks switch and comes close to the reversal, but settles for the escape. Storr gets behind Purinton and picks up a quick takedown, Purinton escapes immediately. Storr shoots on the edge, Purinton kicks out, goes out of bounds, and is called for stalling.5-4 Storr.

3rd: Storr starts down. Storr fights hands, stands up, and escapes 7 seconds in. Club single from Storr, Purinton does a good job of initially defending, but Storr is able to get his hips in and finish. Escape Purinton with 30 seconds left. Purinton gets in on a double, and they scramble there for the remaining 25 seconds. Storr wins 8-5.
