We broke down the Cadet and Junior fields at Fargo in a number of ways. Previews, history, predictions, best unsigned upper classmen.

But every year in Fargo, without fail, offers breakthrough performances. Some guys go from mid-pack or low ranked to Top 5 status. And with that comes greater recruitment options and offers.

While there are limitless possibilities of who may break through in Fargo this week, these are my top candidates to up their stock and enter the 'next tier' in prospect status.

Other than Lee and Rowan (I'll explain below), we're sticking to uncommitted Seniors ranked outside the Top 10.

July 13-19 | 9AM Central

#5-Matt Lee, Indiana - 152

Lee has been trending up and has a high ranking. But his status as an 'elite' recruit is not yet confirmed. He went from 7th in the state and a DNP at Western Regionals in 2018 to a state champ that broke the single season takedown record for his school and winning Central Regional over a ranked opponent.

His 2018 Fargo showed promise; he beat two ranked foes. But he also lost to an unranked wrestler and DNP'd. After Fargo we should know where he's at. There are five other ranked wrestlers in the field at 152 including two former champs.

#7-Kyle Rowan, Ohio - 120

I'm including Rowan because although he's ranked highly, that ranking is at 113. The 2018 Ironman Champ at 106 can answer a lot of questions this week. Moving up to 120 and doing well can turn him in to a viable option for teams searching for a career 125.

#12-Tim Levine, California - 120

Levine was always a good little wrestler but he had a major breakthrough at Ironman last year where he placed 4th, beating several ranked wrestlers and losing only to Troy Spratley in two 1pt. bouts.

He then couldn't hold 113 and didn't wrestle in the Cali State series. He went 3-0 at JR Duals but this will be his real litmus test.

#18-Colton Drousias, Indiana - 120

Our third 120lber with a lot to gain. Drousias was 8th at Ironman losing to Levine. He won a state title in Illinois this year for Mt. Carmel though he lives in and wrestles for Indiana in Fargo. He was 4th last year in Cadets at 113.

#13-Brayden Littel, Indiana - 126

I really like Littel as another career 125lber. He was 6th last year in Cadets and won a title in single class Indiana this year. He has a real shot to win this 126 bracket and if he does his status goes way up.

#10-Mick Burnett, Ohio - 132

Burnett is an interesting case. Everyone knows he's a good, solid prospect of high character that makes for an excellent addition to any program. But he's sort of mid-pack right now, teetering on stardom but not quite there yet.

He was the Cadet Runner-Up last year to Dom Serrano who's also in this Fargo bracket. He just took 7th in Akron losing to Jesse Mendez and Chase DeBlaere. Big opportunity for Burnett in such a loaded bracket.

#17-Trey Crawford, Missouri - 132

I always considered Crawford a solid-not-spectacular wrestler that was better in folk. While the latter may or may not be true, Crawford is certainly making a case that the former is false.

What a roll he's been on. In 2018 he DNP'd at NE Regionals and went 0-2 in Fargo. This year he won Western Regionals, won Southern Plains, and mashed his way to an undefeated record at JR Duals. With seven other ranked wrestlers in the field this year, Crawford is the bad draw and could skyrocket up the board.

#11-Bretli Reyna, Florida - 138

Another mid-pack guy that has shown glimpses but not consistency and not the truly elite wins. He's in a big spot for him here in a monster bracket with three guys that have made the big stage in Fargo before and 2x big school state champ in PA, Sammy Hillegas. He has the ability to be a breakthrough guy though.

#9-Joey Zargo, New Jersey - 145

Yeah, I know; I said 'lower than #10'. But Zargo is in a huge, huge spot. He wrestled great at FloNats and had a very solid showing (he should have finished higher) in Akron. But he needs another good performance here as consistency needs to wash away the otherwise pedestrian folk season he had last year.

You've read me gush about his upside. And now it's go time. He's an a weight that has 13 ranked wrestlers. This weekend is absolutely huge for Zargo. Hey, Zargo-Fargo. That rhymes.

#11-Elise Brown Ton, Texas - 160

I used to come across an interesting win from Brown Ton while researching other kids. He'd show promise, but not consistency. A big win here. A bad loss there. He just had a fantastic Akron that got him in the rankings with a 4th place finish and three ranked wins. It's a tough bracket, but another strong, even performance with a couple good wins and no 'bad' losses should really get recruiters to move him from their radar to an offer.

#11-Sage Serbenta, Michigan - 170

No one went from absolute obscurity to national recognition this year quicker than Serbenta. His previous high was a state 5th (in a state with four divisions) until he won a title this year. He backed it up by winning FloNationals where he made his mark right out of the gates by teching NJ State Champ Brandon Green in the first round. Like all late bloomers, Serbenta needs to keep the consistency going, and he'll have buckets of opportunity with 14 ranked wrestlers in the field.
