One of the biggest duals of the weekend, thanks to a titanic matchup at 133-pounds between #1 Stevan Micic and #4 Nick Suriano. Follow along below as we bring you live updates of the dual meet. 

#12 Rutgers is hosting #5 Michigan in the RAC, which has quickly become one of the best environments in the NCAA. Michigan brings a very solid and balanced squad that has just one loss on the year, to Penn State. 

Every potential starter listed for Rutgers is from New Jersey, Michigan will likely feature at least five native Michiganders. 

The dual meet is starting at 125, which would mean Suriano and Micic will get underway at approximately 12:15 PM eastern. 


125 Pounds: Shane Metzler (Rutgers) vs #13 Drew Mattin (Michigan)

1st period: Mattin starts aggressively, takes a couple shots but Metzler defends. Metzler takes a shot but it's Mattin who counters and draws first blood with a takedown at the edge of the mat. Mattin applying pressure, keeping Metzler on the mat with a gritty half nelson ride. Metzler dinged for stalling right before Mattin tilts him over for four nearfall points. Mattin has a 6-0 lead and over a minute of riding time. Just before the buzzer Mattin catches Metzler in a granby and collects two more nearfall points. 

2nd period: Metzler decides to go neutral and is staring at an 8-0 deficit. Metzler grabs hold of a leg but Mattin throws his hips down and gets a stalemate. Metzler and Mattin bump noggins and the official checks to make sure everyone is okay. They are and action resumes. No scores the rest of the period, it's still 8-0 as we go to the third.

3rd period: Metzler will get a chance on top as Mattin chooses down. Two standup attempts are thwarted as Mattin tries to secure his major decision. A minute into the third and Mattin finally gets his escape. Metzler fires off a shot but Mattin catches him in a front headlock. 30 seconds to go and Mattin with a 9-0 lead. Metzler nearly ahs a takedown but Mattin's whizzer saves the points. The match ends with no more scores but Mattin tacks on the RT point to make it a 10-0 major. 

Michigan 4, Rutgers 0


133 Pounds: #4 Nick Suriano (Rutgers) vs #1 Stevan Micic (Michigan)

1st period: The marquee match is underway. Suriano snatches a leg and has Micic hopping. Micic is so hard to finish on but the crowd is urging on Suriano. Whizzer keeping Nick from scoring and the official calls potentially dangerous, much to the dismay of the Rutgers fans who wanted to see Suriano finish. Heavy hands from Nick, Micic changes levels and attacks but Suriano defends. A big snap down and a reattack and Suriano threatens once again but Micics length and defense keeps donuts on the board as time runs out. 

2nd period: Micic chooses down to being the second. Micic stands and escapes after about 15 seconds. They're in collar ties. Down to 30 seconds left in the period and neither guy has gotten on their offense. Times runs out in the second. 

3rd period: Suriano will get a chance to get on the board from the bottom position. Micic is tough on top though, and nearfall points would be huge. Suriano is out in under 10 seconds though, so this match will be won n neutral. A counter to a Suriano's shot and Micic gets a massive takedown. Suriano is out quickly to make it 3-2. No stalls on either guy with under a minute to go. Suriano again on a leg but it's Micic's whizzer again stopping him. Under 30 to go. Micic hit for stalling and they go out of bounds with 11 seconds left. Suriano looking for an opening but Micic won't give him one. That'll do it and Micic stays undefeated and will remain #1 at 133-pounds.

Michigan 7, Rutgers 0


141 Pounds: Peter Lipari (Rutgers) vs #7 Kanen Storr (Michigan)

1st period: Action resumes here at senior night for the Scarlet Knights. Lipari has junior eligibility, however. No scores after 90 seconds. Storr in on a leg but Lipari dives for a far ankle and we're in a scramble. Limbs flail and we get a potentially dangerous and a restart with 45 seconds on the clock. Both wrestlers looking for scores but it's 0-0 at the end of the period.

2nd period: Lipari chooses down. Storr stymies Lipari on a couple escape attempts. Lipari alternating stands and switches. Halfway through the period and Storr won't let Lipari go. Storr doing an excellent job following Lipari as he hits granbies and switches. Finally with 54 seconds on the clock Lipari stands and is out. Storr just got the riding time clock over a minute. Liapris mission will be to ride for at least 7 seconds as we go into the 3rd with Lipari clinging to a 1-0 lead. 

3rd period: Storr is out after 13 seconds, so the RT clock is under a minute and the score is tied, 1-1. Storr deep on a shot but Lipari does just enough to keep the takedown from being confirmed. They go out of bounds and will restart with 40 seconds left in regulation, still tied. No scores and we go to overtime, although Storr thought he had RT and takes off his ankle bands. Once they are back on we start OT.

Sudden Victory: Snap down go behind almost lands for Storr, then Lipari counters an attack from Storr but Storr defends. An active minute but no scores from either wrestler so we go to rideouts.

Tiebreaker 1: Storr begins underneath. Storr up to his feet, he spins to face Lipari and picks up a point at the 16 second point. Lipari's turn on bottom.

Tiebreaker 2: Lipari looking for the reversal. Hits a couple granbies but on the third one Storr catches him and gets swipes. It's 4 nearfall points and the rideout for the victory. Gutsy win by Kanen Storr.

149 Pounds: #1 Anthony Ashnault (Rutgers) vs Malik Amine (Michigan)

1st period: Senior Anthony Ashnault is looking to snap the Rutgers losing streak and gets a quick takedown in about 10 seconds. An escape for Amine who then goes in on a shot of his own. Ashnault works the scramble into a stalemate and we restart with 2 minutes in the period. Ankle pick and two more for Ashnault makes it 4-1, 4-2 with another Amine escape. Ansualt is feasting on those ankles. Takedown and escape and then a slideby makes it 8-3 with 55 seconds still on the clock. A sneaky tilt when Amine didn't think he was in danger gives Ashnault two more. Ashanult able to rideout the period and takes a big 10-3 lead into the second. 

2nd period: They start this period in neutral. Amine staying out of Ashnault's clutches for the first minute. Amine picks up a stall warning though as the attacks have been all Ashanult. A go behind off an Amine attack makes it 12-3. Ashnaultlooking for the two-on-one tilt on the mat return he's hit so often this year but he can't get a count. Ashnault does get the rideout and it's still 12-3 with one period to go.

3rd period: Ashanult stands and escapes in 5 seconds. Ashnault methodically sets up another ankle pick to run the score to 15-3. Major decision all but assured, Ashnault cuts Amine and will look for the tech. 60 seconds left. Amine not going down easy, he gets in on a shot and they scramble. A stalemate is called with 11 seconds on the board. And it'll be a 16-4 win with riding time for Anthony Ashnault's final match in the RAC. A standing ovation from the crowd as Rutgers gets their first team points of the match.

157 Pounds: #17 John Van Brill (Rutgers) vs #5 Alec Pantaleo (Michigan)

1st period: A top 20 matchup between two seniors. Lots of hand fighting but no deep shots in the first minute Pantaleo then fires off a shot and has Van Brill hopping on one leg. Pantaleo grabs a head and locks up a cradle but Van Brill has an arm freed and avoids giving up a takedown. They go out of bounds and it's back to neutral, still 0-0. Van Brill defends another shot from Pantaleo and starts working double underhooks, potentially going upper body. Pantaleo with a level change and nearly comes behind but Van Brill does just enough to defend. We go to the second still 0-0.

2nd period: We start in neutral. Van Brill gets dinged for stalling just before Pantaleo gets a single leg. He sweeps Van Brill to his back and gets a three count. A big four-point moves makes it 4-0 Pantaleo. JVB escapes to make it 4-1. Van Brill tries to counter with a trip but it's Pantaleo's recounter that scores to make it 6-1. Pantaleo rides out the period.

3rd period: Van Brill chooses top. Van Brill looking cradle, then has a side headlock. Van Brill gives that up and rolls through, trying to catch Pantaleo, but there are no points coming. Pantaleo content to win by regular decision. Van Brill cuts him, looking for a cradle. There's a scramble but no more scores. 8-1 is the final with riding time for Pantaleo. Michigan wins another, but the crowd applauds Van Brill for his efforts in his last dual meet in the RAC.

165 Pounds: Forfeit (Rutgers) vs #7 Logan Massa (Michigan)

After the break its a forfeit at 165. Surprising in that it appeared Rugters had a wrestler weighed in. But we will not get a match so it's on to 174 we go. 

Michigan 19, Rutgers 4


174 Pounds: Joe Grello (Rutgers) vs Reece Hughes (Michigan)

1st period: All-American Myles Amine gets a rest as Michigan sends out sophomore Reece Hughes. It's a tactical match for most of the first period. But Grello times a shot well in about 30 seconds to go and converts to make it 2-0. He rides out the period and we go to the second. 

2nd period: Grello stands, Hughes drop to a single leg, but Grello able to escape after some hopping to make it 3-0. Hughes times a counter nearly perfectly but Grello's hips are too much to overcome. We get a restart with 28 seconds to go, Grello still leading 3-0. No scores in short time.

3rd period: Hughes gets a turn on bottom. Smothering ride by Grello. Hughes gets to his feet but Grello brings him down as riding time ticks over a minute. Grello sticking to Hughes like glue. Hughes does get to his feet with less than 20 seconds to go. Grello defends a takedown attempt as time expires and picks up a 4-1 win after the RT point is added. 

Michigan 19, Rutgers 7


184 Pounds: Anthony Olivieri (Rutgers) vs #19 Jelani Embree (Michigan)

1st period: Gravina not healthy enough to make the final start so it's Olivieri subbing in for the senior. Embree scores first with a takedown in the first minute. An escape makes it 2-1. Blast double by Embree, switches to a single and Olivieri kicks out of danger, it's still 2-1. Now Olivieri in on a shot but we get a stalemate. Two more for Embree in short time to make it 4-1 as time expires in the first. 

2nd period: Embree will be underneath to start the period. Embree stands and picks up another point in about 30 seconds. Both wrestlers stay active but the period ends with no additional scores. 

3rd period: Olivieri gets a turn on bottom. Olivieri is out quickly to make it 5-2. Embree staying active, making Olivieri defend, but no takedowns with a minute left in regulation. Olivieri attacking but Embree controlling the ties. Then Embree fires off a shot and collects two more. He'll ride out the match and picks up the 7-2 regular decision. 

Michigan 22, Rutgers 7


197 Pounds: Matthew Correnti (Rutgers) vs Jackson Striggow (Michigan)

1st period: Striggow strikes first, wrapping up a double leg on the boundary and opening up a 2-0 lead in the first minute. Correnti stands and is out in 10 seconds. It's 2-1 with about 90 seconds left in the period. Striggow doing a good job changing levels. Correnti getting better timing his re-attacks and gets a go-behind with 30 seconds left in the period. Striggow escapes to tie it up 3-3 in a busy first period.

2nd period: Correnti chose bottom and escapes quickly to gain his first lead of the match, 4-3. Correnti gets a hand in the face but it's called incidental so no hands-to-the-face penalty is assessed. Another re-attack by Correnti nearly scores two, but the period ends in a wild scramble and no takedown is called. Coach Goodale throws the challenge cube and they'll review to make sure. Upon further review, the call stands, no takedown. 

3rd period: Striggow goes underneath and escapes to tie up the score. Riding time not a factor and neither wrestler has any stall warnings. 90 seconds left in regulation. They trade shots with about a minute left. Now in upper body ties. 30 seconds left as Correnti just avoids giving up a takedown with an assist from the out of bounds. Now Striggow gets the takedown with 15 seconds left on the board. And Striggow will get the victory with a dramatic go-ahead double leg. 

Michigan 25, Rutgers 7


285 Pounds: Christian Colucci (Rutgers) vs #11 Mason Parris (Michigan)

1st period: The heavies will close out the dual. Parris hits a firemans carry, as he has so many times before, and gets an early 2-0 lead. Nearly had back points but Colucci able to fight to his belly. Colucci escapes to make it 2-1 with 90 seconds left in the first period. More wrestlers attack but no scores and we head to the second same score. 

2nd period: Parris chooses down. Parris sits, then stands, peels hands and extends his lead by a point. It's 3-1.Parris maintaining tricep control, looking for a dump, Colucci defends though with 45 seconds left in the second period. We go to the final period of regulation still 3-1 Parris.

3rd period: Colucci gets a shot from bottom. He stands and escapes to make it 3-2. Parris gets riding time to just over a minute. 60 seconds to go. Now a hands to the face on Parris ties it up 3-3. 30 seconds to go. Colucci shoots, Parris defends. Time expires and by three seconds Mason Parris will win 4-3 when the RT point is tacked on. 

FINAL SCORE

Michigan 28, Rutgers 7
