Nebraska is fresh off a weekend where they dominated Rutgers on the road then came up short against Iowa at home.

Now they will look to put another check in the win column as they take on Minnesota in another Big Ten battle. This dual meet will feature a good deal of matchups between two ranked competitors, not to mention that the teams are ranked 6th (Nebraska) and 7th (Minnesota).

1. Fire From The Start

Right out the gate we will get some heat as Sean Russell and Zeke Moisey meet for just the second time in their college careers. In their only other bout, when they wrestled for Edinboro and West Virginia, Russell edged Moisey 6-4 in overtime.

Check out how things went down last time they wrestled

2. Is It A Thing?

The match at 285 has had some people talking since David Jensen took out Sam Stoll last weekend. Stoll was someone in the conversation as a possible contender to give top ranked freshman Gable Steveson a run. And with Jensen’s shutout victory over him it’s started some talks about how he matches up with Steveson.

This will not be the first time these two have met, however. When Steveson was still in high school he entered the Daktroniks Open and cradle and pinned Jensen in the 2nd period after amounting a 9-2 lead. Certainly they are both different wrestlers now, but only one of them has been a dominant force and sports a #1 ranking. So is it a thing? Probably not, and that’s just going off of how badly Steveson has manhandle the weight class since making his debut against #2 Derek White.

3. 5 Ranked vs Ranked Matchups

I’ve already talked about the matchups that will bookend the dual. In between will be three other matches between a set of ranked competitors at 141, 157 and 174. At 141, #9 Mitch McKee and #20 Chad Red have never met. Red has been wrestling very well as of late after having a bit of a rough start. He will certainly have to keep that momentum in order to notch another W against McKee.

The same can be said at 157 and 174. Bleise and Berger have no prior history and neither do Labriola and Skatzka.

Projected Lineups

125: #6 Sean Russell (Minnesota) vs. #14 Zeke Moisey (Nebraska)

133: #7 Ethan Lizak (Minnesota) vs. Jevon Parrish (Nebraska)

141: #9 Mitch McKee (Minnesota) vs. #20 Chad Red (Nebraska)

149: #17 Tommy Thorn (Minnesota) vs. Jordan Shearer (Nebraska)

157: #10 Steve Bleise (Minnesota) vs. #2 Tyler Berger (Nebraska)

165: Carson Brolsma (Minnesota) vs. #6 Isaiah White (Nebraska)

174: #12 Devin Skatzka (Minnesota) vs. #9 Mikey Labriola (Nebraska)

184: Owen Webster (Minnesota) vs. #4 Taylor Venz (Nebraska)

197: Dylan Anderson (Minnesota) vs. #11 Eric Schultz (Nebraska)

285: #1 Gable Steveson (Minnesota) vs. #9 David Jensen (Nebraska)
