Carver-Hawkeye Arena is one of the most storied venues in college wrestling. This Friday, Princeton travels to Iowa City for the first time ever in a dual that will be LIVE on FloWrestling.

Every starter on Iowa is ranked, though three of them will be out: #6 Michael Kemerer (174), #11 Jacob Warner (197), and #1 Sam Stoll (285). The Hawkeyes went a combined 19-1 in wins over Kent State and CSU Bakersfield last Friday in the Frenzy at the Field House.

Meanwhile, the Tigers bring a young roster with three athletes who appear in the Top-20 of their weight class. It will be the first dual of the year for Princeton after starting their season at the Princeton Open.

Since the match is on Friday night, here's a six-pack of reasons to tune in at 7PM central for the battle between the EIWA and the Big Ten.

1) #8 Pat Lugo vs #1 Matt Kolodzik

Lugo has beaten Kolodzik in both folk and freestyle, but he also just lost to Russell Rohlfing. In their match at Midlands, Kolodzik was up 7-5 before Lugo got an escape and immediately hit a cow catcher for the second period pin. The last visiting #1 to fall in Carver-Hawkeye was Jordan Oliver on January 7, 2012. Will Kolodzik be the next, or is Lugo still reeling from last week?

2) #13 Pat Glory vs #1 Spencer Lee

For now, Glory represents maybe the best opportunity any true freshman has of placing this year. But he’s wrestling Spencer Lee, perhaps the most overwhelming favorite to win NCAAs of any top-ranked guy. Dubuque has been in the position of being a freshman facing a returning national finalist at Carver-Hawkeye, so Glory might be better prepared than most other first year guys in this situation.

3) Princeton's First Trip to Carver-Hawkeye Arena

The only other meeting between the Hawkeyes and the Tigers happened on December 1st, 2001, a 36-7 win for the Black & Gold. That match happened at Blair Academy in New Jersey, where current Hawkeye Wrestling Club coach Mark Perry was still a junior. Steve Mocco, then a freshman at Iowa, had just graduated from Blair earlier that year.

4) Story Time

Princeton assistants Joe Dubuque and Nate Jackson have each wrestled in Carver while they were competing for Indiana, going 1-2 overall. We plan on getting some stories from them about their experiences at Iowa while still in college. Did they get Carver'd? How do they coach their athletes to handle that crowd? Speaking of crowd...

5) Iowa's First Home Dual of the Year

The Hawkeye fans show up to matches in droves, literally by 1,300 more on average last season than the team with the second most attendance. Yes, this article is about watching the dual instead of attending it live, but the atmosphere comes through in the broadcast. Iowa is looking to lead the country in fan attendance for the 13th straight year, and their first chance to see the 2018-19 team means several thousand Black & Gold faithful will be screaming "TWOOO" at the first takedown of the night.

6) Carver Debuts For Austin DeSanto, Max Murin, and Pat Lugo

And Myles Wilson, and Connor Corbin, and Aaron Costello. But the ranked starters, in particular the two transfers in DeSanto and Lugo, should receive massive crowd reactions. DeSanto in particular has Tony Ramos-level heel potential, something that will only make the audience in Iowa City love him even more. Getting back to point #1, will the crowd help Lugo get his third win over Kolodzik, or is it going to be a totally new experience that could negatively impact him.
