More big recruiting news today. Travis Ford-Melton released his college decision on social media, announcing he will be wrestling for the Purdue Boilermakers.

The Super 32 finalist is currently ranked #4 at 126 pounds. Ford-Melton is going into his senior year at Marian Catholic, where he holds a 115-6 career record.

A three-time state placer in Illinois, he is our 38th best prospect on the Class of 2019 Big Board. He is the second Top-100 commit for coach Tony Ersland from this grade, having picked up a verbal from heavyweight Eli Pokorney earlier this year. Pokorney, out of Chesterton, IN is #71 on the Big Board.

Ford-Melton projects as a 133 in college, where we have him rated as the #13 recruit at that weight. No matter where he ends up, he's a lightweight at the next level, which means he'll be getting daily work from three-time All-American AJ Schopp, who is an assistant at Purdue.

As a freshman, the future Boilermaker won a 2A state title. Moving up to 3A, the largest class, he placed third as a sophomore and made the finals this past season. Although he has not gone to Fargo the past two years, he did make the freestyle finals as a Cadet in 2015 and 2016. Both of those years he placed at Akron as well.
