Some of the country's most talented young wrestlers are stepping up to the Junior and Senior levels this year, and we are all champing at the bit to see how they fare.

The first test for a number of these age-level world champions and medalists will take place at the 2018 U.S. Open in Las Vegas on April 25-28.

Most notable is the move to the 125kg Senior level being made by three-time world champ Gable Steveson. The 17-year-old will look to mix it up with multiple time U.S. Open champ Dom Bradley, three-time Pan Am champ Zach Rey, and 2018 NCAA runner-up Adam Coon, who is supposedly wrestling both freestyle and Greco in Las Vegas.

At 57kg, fellow Junior world champ Daton Fix is stepping up to the Senior level as well. Fix had a pretty dormant redshirt season at Oklahoma State, and this will be the first time we’ve seen him compete since the U23 World Championship, where he did not medal. Of note, he defeated four-time NCAA All-American Nathan Tomasello to make the team and could see Tomasello once again.

On the Junior level, Cadet world champs Aaron Brooks and Daniel Kerkvliet are both slated to compete in Vegas. Brooks, along with Cadet world medalist Travis Wittlake, will be looking to rip apart the 79kg bracket. Kerkvliet, who is still Cadet eligible and registered for the Cadet WTT as well, will be entering at 97kg.

Also making the move up to the Junior level is Cadet world bronze medalist Gavin Hoffman.
