Hofstra Goes Full Season Without Giving Up A Forfeit
Hofstra goes an entire season without giving up a forefeit.
With a long season and limited amount of available wrestlers, going an entire dual meet season without giving up a forfeit isn’t exactly an easy task.
Yet, for Hofstra head coach Dennis Papadatos it’s the natural order of things. With the dual meet season now in the books and everyone getting ready for their respective conference tournaments, Papadatos reflected on his forfeit-less season via Twitter on Saturday.
A fact that I am most proud of @HofstraWREST for. We have a 20 man roster cap. One guy left so 19. 3 redshirts. So 16 guys left. In 20 duals meets we forfeited 0 times. 0 times in 200 matches. It can be done. #ForfeitsAreBadForTheSport #OurTrainerIsGoodToo

The fact that the Pride went an entire season without giving up one forfeit speaks volumes. To put that into perspective, there were 18 forfeits recorded across Division I dual meet competition just last week [Box scores from Feb. 12-21].
Yes, it’s a long, grueling season, but surely, Hofstra isn't the only team to make it an entire season without giving up a forfeit. But with the numbers that Papadatos is working with, it makes accomplishing this feat that much more incredible.
