Who's #1 World Medal Count

Matt Shuck | Richard Immel hall.jpg

Who's #1 has become a premier high school all-star event over the years, and its competitors have demonstrated that by collecting some serious hardware on the biggest stages.

Every year, the best high school wrestlers in the nation go head-to-head in the Snakepit in Bethlehem, PA. Obviously, a lot of them have a number of state titles and Fargo stop signs on their resumes, but it doesn't just stop there.

This year, there are 12 world team members who are competing on Oct. 8, including seven world medalists and two gold medal winners in Kurt McHenry (two-time champion) and Will Lewan (2017 champ).

As the fifth year of WNO approaches, let's take a look back at the top names who have earned medals at the international level.

Note: The numbers only include the high school wrestlers; in the first year of WNO, Jordan Oliver, a 2009 60kg junior world bronze medalist, wrestled Bubba Jenkins, a 2007 junior world 66kg gold medalist, in the main event. Then in 2014 Chris Perry, who wrestled Robert Hamlin in the WNO main event, was a bronze medalist in 2010 at 84kg at Junior Worlds.
