Dual championships. Check. Regional meets. Check. Individual state events for boys and girls. Check.

In most places and scenarios, those are the Infinity Stones of interscholastic wrestling. You prolong the moment and celebration. It’s something on which to hang your hat – or medal.

But not in Maine. Why stop at dominating just your home state, when you can rule an entire six-state region of the country?

At the same time, maybe you came up short at home. Maybe you don’t want your wrestling journey to end before you get a shot at redemption.

Either way, you’re in luck. Wrestling season isn’t over in the Northeast.

The New England Interscholastic Wrestling Championships is still ahead on the schedule, and your way in is through the 2026 Maine Principals’ Association New England Qualifier, which will be broadcast live on FloWrestling and the FloSports app on Feb. 20.

That gives the top high school wrestlers in Maine at least one more chance to throw down, with three tickets to Providence, Rhode Island, up for grabs in each weight class at the MPA New England Qualifier, which will be held at Edward Little High School in Auburn, Maine.

Boys in 14 weight classes, and girls in 12 categories, will battle through eight-person brackets, and the last three competitors standing in each will get to represent Maine alongside the top performers from Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.

This year’s New England Wrestling Championships will be the 61st edition of the event, and the weekend, March 7-8, will include the third annual Girls’ New England Championship. All of the action will take place at the Providence Career and Technical Academy.

The only way in to these prestigious tournaments is through the state qualifiers.
