The Three Toughest Junior Women's Weights
The Three Toughest Junior Women's Weights
Introducing the three toughest weights for Junior women's freestyle nationals in Fargo.
The Junior women have weighed in for Fargo, and get started today at 3pm central time. Their brackets can be found on FloArena, but before we do that, we wanted to make you familiar with the three toughest weight classes. Their seed is listed next to their name.
Macey Kilty teched her way through Pan Ams and then came to Fargo, where she pinned or teched her way though the Cadet field to win the OW. She is up from her 108 title and last year and, along with Heaton, represents two strong possibilities to be on the world team within a few years.
Brenda Reyna pinned Heaton in last year's Fargo finals and also made the junior world team. She is on the opposite side of Heaton, setting up a juicy semi between her and Kilty.
Junior trials finalist Xochitl Mota-Pettis, who pinned Reyna there in Dallas, will have a good quarter with returning All American Hailey Cox for the semi spot against Heaton.
This is Heaton's final Fargo tournament, so she is a strong bet for OW as a career achievement award. Or, if she get upset by one of the girls above, they could also be considered for OW.
Cameron Guerin, who just won a Cadet Pan Am title, beat Martinez 8-4 in the semis of UWW Cadet trials. Guerin would go on to win the Junior world team spot at 51kg and won the 112lb junior crown last year.
Rory Coscia has placed at Body Bar each of the past three years. Amanda Walker was second at 112lbs last year, and placed in both Cadet and Junior trials. She and her sister Caitlyn are two of the best girls from Pennsylvania, with Amanda placing in both Fargo age levels in 2015. Weaver was second to Martinez last year in the Junior 105 bracket.
Behind Howk is third seed Stefana Jelacic, who just won a Cadet title yesterday and was second at Cadet trials last year. In the four spot is Viktorya Torres, who fell to Jelacic in the Cadet finals. Also here is 2016 Cadet trials champ Merijah Morales.
