Andrew Merola announced today that he has verbally committed to wrestle for Cornell. The rising senior at Blair Academy is ranked 5th at 160 pounds and projects as a 157 or 165 for the Big Red.

Merola comes in at No. 32 on the class of 2018 big board, with potential to rise as he will be competing in Fargo this weekend. The New Jersey native is also on the radar for Who's #1 this coming October.



A two-time National Prep champ, Merola was runner-up at both Ironman and Beast of the East this past season. He placed in both styles in Akron last year, and won a Cadet greco title in 2015 at 138lbs. That same year he was fourth in Cadet freestyle.

Cornell has now landed two of the Top-100 recruits in as many days, after Gerard Angelo of Bergen Catholic committed yesterday.
