The "Unattached Assassin" may be attached to a major university sometime in the near future. All-American Pat Downey has been given his official release from Iowa State University and plans to visit some pretty serious schools.

One of the schools on the rising redshirt senior's short list is the University of Iowa. The Hawkeyes have had an eventful few weeks, as they've scooped up a transfer in Pat Lugo and a commitment from Anthony Cassioppi, who had originally verbally committed to Northwestern but decided to make Iowa City his home for the next four years.

Also on Downey's list of schools are Rutgers, Kent State, and the University of Buffalo.

Downey has also expressed to FloWrestling that he is taking into consideration which program best fits his senior-level aspirations as well as potential mixed martial arts career.

Watch Pat Downey take out two-time NCAA champ Gabe Dean at the U.S. Open.
