For the majority of Division 1 NCAA champs who continue to wrestle after college, most choose the freestyle route. However, it appears Gabe Dean could be taking his talents into the world of Greco-Roman. [tweet url="https://twitter.com/mattlindland/status/879897514459013120" hide_media="0" hide_thread="1"]
This is a move that has long been rumored, ever since his silver medal at the 2015 Pan American championships. He was repeatedly asked the question about which style he would choose in various interviews, however, he remained noncommittal, only indicating that he would take some time to consider his options.

Dean primarily competed in freestyle while at Cornell, placing at both the junior trials and University Nationals in 2013, before going on to win a junior world bronze medal the following year.

After closing out his Big Red career with a second place finish in March, Dean placed seventh at the U.S. Open to qualify for the World Team Trials, but did not compete in Lincoln. We're not entirely sure at this time when the Michigan native will be entering his first competition.

It is likely Dean would compete at 85kg for now, which saw Ben Provisor as our Olympian last year, and Provisor again won the weight at this year's trials. However, we are only a few months from the sport likely moving to 10 weight classes and same day weigh-ins, so any weight speculation at this point is subject to change.
