As reported by IAWrestle.com the Eastern Iowa Wrestling Club, founded by University Of Iowa Associate Head Coach Terry Brands, will be housed a mere 26 miles south of Iowa City in Cedar Rapids, Iowa at Coe College. The EIWC will provide a state of the art facility with 4 full mats, cardio equipment, and weight room/fitness center. While other wrestling clubs of similar ilk have popped up across the country most are held in more densely populated areas like New York and Pennsylvania. The aforementioned states, already rich in wrestling tradition, saw an increase in depth at the high school level with the advent in club wrestling on their home soil. Iowa was a late adopter to the club wrestling game, siting lack of population density as the main reason. A facility like the EIWC will surely attract athletes from all over, especially considering the coaching staff.

Two-time NCAA champion champion for the University Of Iowa, Matt McDonough has been named the Director of the EIWC. McDonough was a  high school stand out at Linn-Mar High School in Marion, IA less than 7 miles away. Two Time world champion, Terry Brands, and other members of the Hawkeye Wrestling Club will be helping out at the club occasionally as well.

Practices at EIWC’s new facility will start in September.
