Jarod Verkleeren Picks Penn State
Former Iowa State Cyclone commit Jarod Verkleeren picks Penn State as the highly ranked high school senior adds more firepower to an already formidable Nittany Lions recruiting class.
Cadet world champ and No. 13 recruit in the Class of 2017 Jarod Verkleeren announced on twitter that he would be headed to Penn State next year to help continue the current Nittany Lion dynasty.
Verkleeren had originally committed to Iowa State before being released from his letter of intent following the Cyclones hiring of Kevin Dresser to be their new head coach back in March.
For Penn State, Verkleeren will add to an already loaded recruiting class. The No. 1 ranked 145 high school senior will join Nick Lee and Brady Berge, the No. 4 and No. 6 ranked wrestlers on the big board respectively.
Verkleeren projects out at 149/157 and will compete with his fellow future classmates for a spot in the line up, most likely after a redshirt season. Hodge Trophy winner Zain Retherford has one more year of eligibility for the Lions 149, and NCAA champion Jason Nolf has two years remaining at 157, assuming no unexpected weight changes for either wrestler.
