They say things come in threes, and when it comes to titles that's certainly the case for J'den Cox. The Missouri senior added a final chapter to his dominant college career by mowing down the NCAA tournament field at 197 pounds last week in St. Louis.
After getting a first-round fall, he went on to outscore his opponents 38-8 with two major decisions and two regular decisions to take home title No. 3.
Round 1: J'den Cox, Missouri vs. Jeric Kasunic, American
Cox wasted no time in the first round as he went takedown, four nearfall, and then straight for the pin.
Round 2: J'den Cox, Missouri vs. Steban Cervantes, Navy
The dominance continued for the Olympic bronze medalist as he collected a 12-3 major decision to move on to the quarterfinals.
Quarterfinals: J'den Cox, Missouri vs. Ryan Wolfe, Rider
Cox punched his ticket to the semis once again with some high-level offense to get the major over Wolfe.
Semifinals: J'den Cox, Missouri vs. Jared Haught, Virginia Tech
Haught gave the champ his toughest match of the tournament, but it wouldn't be enough to stop Cox from getting the win and heading to another final.
Finals: J'den Cox, Missouri vs. Brett Pfarr, Minnesota
The last time these two wrestled, Pfarr gave him all he could handle. This time around, the Minnesota senior had no such luck. Cox used a snatch single to collected a number of takedowns and claim another title.
