FloWrestler of the Week: James Benjamin, Buffalo
James Benjamin's grinding, come-from-behind win over fourth-ranked Brett Harner makes him our FloWrestler of the Week.
He weathered the storm, and then he got the job done.
Buffalo senior James Benjamin fell behind early but was able to get his offense together and put on a tough ride to wear on No. 4-ranked Brett Harner of Princeton in the 197 finals at Grapple at the Garden in New York on Sunday. After a scoring mishap was fixed and the two were sent to overtime, Benjamin turned Harner's first and only leg attack of the period into the winning takedown to get the 7-5 upset.
Benjamin's grinding, come-from-behind win over Harner makes him our FloWrestler of the Week.
Other FloWrestler of the Week Nominees:
Brandon Tribble, Wyoming: Apparently, size doesn't matter. Well, at least not in this case. Tribble bumped up to heavyweight after weighing in at 197 and claimed a comeback win in the final 30 seconds of the match.
Drew Foster, UNI: Everything just clicked for Foster when he took on No. 10 Jack Dechow. He scored on his feet. He rode tough on top, and his defense was impenetrable late in the match as Dechow tried to do everything he could to get the win. Foster wrestled a complete match to get the win for the Panther Train.
Austin Schafer, Oklahoma State: On paper, he was the underdog. But that didn't matter much as Schafer took out No. 5 Michael Kroells.
