The Tar Heel Wrestling Club is teaming up with Sunkist Kids. All senior level athletes and coaches will now be sponsored by Sunkist Kids in a thrilling new partnership.

"With me recently retiring, and I finished up my career with Sunkist, I created a relationship with Art and Kim out there," said UNC head coach Coleman Scott. "They're some of the best people in wrestling and they're really probably the longest standing club around. I think it's key for us to have a partnership with them and join forces with them. Us being on the east coast, I think it's good for both ways and definitely going to push us towards that next level."

Over the summer, Scott brought in Olympic gold medalist Kenny Monday to head up the Tar Heel WC and handle their regional training center. Currently, there are four senior level athletes on roster: Tony Ramos at 57kg, Josh Kindig at 61kg, John Staudenmeyer at 86kg, and Braden Atwood at 125kg.

Business-wise, I think it's best for us to go with Sunkist. It's a good opportunity for us to all be under that same umbrella. Our goal is to win world and Olympic titles, and we're going to win them together. We have similar goals and similar ways of getting there, and that's why I wanted to partner with Art.

The club will likely add another senior level athlete or two over the course of the next year, with needs in the 70/74 range. Sunkist put five athletes on the senior ladder this year between Olympic Team Trials and last weekend's non-Olympic weight world team trials. Included in that is Tar Heel resident athlete Tony Ramos, who finished second at 57kg after being the American representative at worlds in 2014 and 2015. Ramos will be switching from Titan Mercury.

"It's an exciting time for us, just looking to put people on the world team," Scott said. "And not just put them on the world team, but win world and Olympic medals. We run it as a true RTC and I think that's important for us moving forward and for USA Wrestling moving forward."

Ramos will be the next Tar Heel WC athlete in action, as he is going to Baku at 57kg for next weekend's Golden Grand Prix.
