Layne Van Anrooy has made a verbal commitment to wrestle for the University of Michigan. Currently ranked 10th at 160 pounds, the rising senior from Roseburg, OR projects as a 157/165 for the Wolverines.

He checks in 37th on the class of 2017 big board and is the fifth senior to commit this weekend. With school starting all over the country, pieces are starting to fall into place for many college teams.

The three-time state champ is also the fifth member of the senior big board to commit to Michigan. Van Anrooy may be joined in a maize and blue singlet by No. 21 Jelani Embree, No. 47 Drew Mattin, No. 56 Ben Freeman, and No. 63 Andrew Davison.

His credentials this year include a 3rd place junior Greco finish at 160 in Fargo, a 4th place finish at 152 at FloNationals and his third straight Doc B title. Last year, he was silver at the RTOC, and placed in both styles at UWW Cadets in Akron.
