Is this the year for the championship streak to end for Young Guns Black? It’s possible.

The teams coming to NHSCA Duals this year are looking a bit more stacked than in past years. The incredible number of high-ranking talent taking the trip to Virginia Beach this weekend is through the roof.

The top five teams that will be making the trip this year are Young Guns Black, Team Nauman Goofy, Bad Karma Silver, Bison Legend Orange and the most eye-popping line-up, Team Kong United. Young Guns Black has come away with the title the last few years, but Kong is looking to crown themselves them kings this year.

Let’s take a look at these teams to see what type of firepower they are bringing to the beach.

Team Kong United

Overview: This team is certainly “united.” They have guys from Colorado, Michigan, New York, Washington and Ohio coming along with plenty others and if they don’t come away with the title I will be shocked.

Highlighting this group of killers will be Vito Arujau, Adam Busiello, Malik Heinselman, Jacori Teemer, Cohlton Schultz, Gannon Gremmel and Kanen Storr who obviously isn’t done touring the country and collecting hardware yet. But this is definitely not all the bullets they have in the chamber.

I fully expect them to come out on top and knock off the returning multiple time champs, Young Guns Black.

Here is their full line-up:
106: Malik Heinselman
106: Anthony Scotto
113: Adam Busiello
120: Matteo Devencenzo
126: Jacori Teemer

220: Colton Shultz
285: Gannon Gremmel
285: Edwin Rubio

Young Guns Black

Overview: Jody Strittmatter always has a team filled with hammers and this year is no different. Last year they came away with the title, but the power collabortating on the other rosters could end their streak. In the mix for YGB are 11 PA state finals with 5 state champs. Actually, every single guy on their roster is a state placewinner. Cadet World Champion Jarod Verkleeren will fill the spot at 145 with State Champs Cam Coy and Kaleb Young following at 152 and 160 to make for one helluva trio.

At the top of the line-up State Champ Jake Beistel will be putting a bow on things as he completes his high school wrestling career before heading off to SFU to play football for the Red Flash.

Here is their full line-up:
106: Colton Camacho
113: Drew West
120: Bryce West
126: Cole Manley
132: Luke Kemerer
138: Justin McCoy
145: Jarod Verkleeren
152: Cam Coy

160: Kaleb Young
170: Jake Shaffer
182: Anthony Walters
195: Drew Phipps
220: Josiah Jones
220: Jacob Robb
285: Jake Beistel

Bad Karma Silver

Overview: Another hybrid team here with guys from New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Iowa that are pretty damn solid. From the jump these guys are off to a great start with Bea Bayless at 106. A bit further down the line is two-time Iowa state champ Justin Portillo and Fargo champ Jordan Decatur at 113 and 120 with three-time IA state champ Josh Portillo batting clean-up.

Another nasty string of dudes is at 145, where both PA state placers Seth Hogue and NJ state champ Mekhi Lewis will be, with fellow NJ state champ Stephan Glasgow following at 152. Carter Isley, another two-time IA state champ, will look to be the anchor for bad Karma at 285.

Here is their full line-up:
106: Beau Bayless
113: Geo Barzona
113: Justin Portillo
120: Jordan Decatur
126: Josh Portillo
132: Cole Matthews
138: Tate Ortz
145: Seth Hogue
145: Mekhi Lewis
152: Stephan Glasgow
160: Georgio Poullas
170: George Walton
182: Cody Mulligan
195: Deven Simpson
220: Cole Rickert
285: Carter Isley

Bison Legend Orange

Overview: Another squad built for destruction. As always the Hidlay brothers – Hayden and Trent – along with Hoffman brother – Gavin and Garrett – will be sporting their Bison singlets as they look to lead their team to the championship. FloNational Champ Jaret Lane will be at 106 with New York state champ Theo Powers joining the Bison at 120.

A great 1-2 punch of Brian Courtney and Sammy Hepler are set to bolster the line-up at 126 and 132.

Here is their full line-up:
106: Jaret Lane
113: Bronson Garber
120: Theo Powers
126: Brian Courtney
132: Sammy Hepler
132: Matt Swanson
138: Todd Lane
145: Creighton Edsell
152: Hayden Hidlay
160: Charlie Andrews
160: Trent Hidlay
170: Brandon Stokes
182: Garrett Hoffman
195: Gavin Hoffman
220: Trey Hartsock
285: Michael Rogers

Team Nauman Goofy

Overview: Don’t be fulled by the name, which was inspired by two-time FloNational Champ Dakota Geer, there’s nothing to laugh at when you check out this powerful line-up. Even though there are some highly-ranked guys on this roster, I am interested in seeing how up-and-comer Andrew Cerniglia, who is the sixth-ranked Jr. High wrestler in the country, does against some top competition.

The youngster will be led by Ironman and Powerade Champ Austin Bell along with two-time state champ Jake Wentzel. Along with Bell, Wentzel and Geer, state runner-up Jimmy Saylor is in the line-up at 152 with Gregg Harvey, FloNational Champ Jared Campbell and PA state runner-up Tommy Kiloran finishing off the line-up from 195-285. Lower weights Connor McGonagle, Alan Hart and Dallas Bulsak will fill the spots at 126, 132 and 138, as well. This team is built to do some great things. Don’t be surprised if they make a big splash at the beach this weekend. Or if Austin Bell jumps over anyone like he did last year.

Here is their full line-up:
106: Andrew Cerniglia
106: Isaiah Delgado
113: Connor Brown
120: Jake Cherry
126: Alan Hart
126: Connor McGonagle
138: Dallas Bulsak
138: Cole Wetzel
145: Dustin Marteney
152: Jimmy Saylor
160: Jake Wentzel
170: Austin Bell
182: Dakota Geer
195: Gregg Harvey
220: Jared Campbell
285: Tom Kiloran

Honorable Mention: Illinois Outsiders, Indiana High Rollers Black and Shore Thing CFWA.
