Two well-conditioned wrestlers, Dylan Alton and Brian Stephens, battle on the mat featuring different skills: cat quick takedowns and a ferocious ride by Alton versus the constant pressure by Stephens. Alton manages to execute his game plan, using his takedown superiority with a tough ride, and then he manages the clock to close out the match with a win.
While watching Alton use a slick low-single leg takedown, I thought of John Smith, the man who perfected the move. Alton has some of John’s physical characteristics, such as, quickness and mat intelligence.
Many factors go into choosing a college to attend: proximity to home, academic offerings, and the compatibility of environment to personality. Add to those factors to consider for wrestlers: relationship to coaches and other wrestlers in the program; scholarship offers; availability of other wrestlers near their weight that will push them, and program styles. Brent Metcalf picked Tom Brands’ program, wherever Brands would coach, and he did wise as that program fit his skills and abilities.
Alton may consider Smith and Guerrero as mentors, not only for their ability to coach him in folk style, but also Smith can lead Alton through the spate of injuries that afflict a young wrestlers career preventing the wrestler from maturing into a great freestyle and Olympic champion. True OSU has had several down years, all programs go through the cycle of up and down, they still appear to offer Alton an opportunity to maximize his wrestling potential. Many other fine programs will help Alton, and when I mention OSU Cowboys, I have to say I have great respect for the programs in Iowa; Iowa State; Cornell; Missouri; Nebraska; Edinboro; Lehigh; Michigan; and Ohio State, amongst others. Also, Alton will likely do well wherever he goes. By mentioning OSU as a potential place for Alton to wrestle, I am thinking of our future in world events and Olympic events, meaning we have different opportunities with these great wrestling universities and wrestlers should consider matching their talents to the programs that best develop those talents.
excuse me natty? i think oyu need a reality check and get over yourself becuse you along with everyone else knows graham wrestlers have always been in great shape and thats why they become state champs. so you can stop being jealous and get with reality because the only reason your talking crap is because your jealous whoever you root for cant wouldnt be able to handle a graham workout or wrestler at that. so stop talking crap you look like a idiot
I can't believe how much bigger the Alton's are than their opponents, amazing that they make weight. Dylan looked great on his feet, but gassed at the end. Graham wrestlers are by far in the best shape in the nation for high school wrestlers
