Andy Simons, not Andy stone. Andy was a wrestler at Cox and ODU. also a good friend he taught me how to surf. He was Grays son and I think is in Cali somewhere now.

Gray Simon was head coach at Old Dominion U for many years. When he retired,Stevie Martin, the son of Billy Martin, Gray's legendary high school coach, took over as ODU head coach. A great technician in his own right and also the former coach of Great Bridge H.S., which under his guidance became one of the top high school teams in the nation, Stevie continues to follow in his father's footsteps. After just three years, ODU has become one of the top wrestling programs in the nation.

Gray was so fast in his day, the camera speed couldn't catch it all. Each year, Coach would bring us over for a cook out and play bocce ball. The guy is a brilliant. He never lost a match in two Olympics, but the system prevented him from medaling.

Coach Gray Simons' impact on me personally has been immeasurable.

Hip rolls were big in the 60's and 70's. But they are unlikely to work against opponents now. Too easy to defend.
