John Smith was a hulk . . . idiot.

Pena did a great job. He was the better wrestler here. I think there should have been one escape at the end, if not two reversal. Not to mention the takedown (that would have been called in college) on the edge of the mat earlier.
Sorry to see Pena throw his headgear, though. Usually, he is a class act.

Swan was at 152 at the beginning of the year, as early as thankgiving. wrestled mmore from iowa and stuck him like a lawn dart. only went up to 160 for his team at state and that why he ended up being ranked there. both these boys made 152 for this dual. swan is bigger im not arguing that, but its not that huge a difference. that being said, i was very very impressed w/ pena.

Hey okie! This keeps looking worse and worse. You mean this kid wasn't even a 145 pounder?

To the idiot who said that it wasn't two.. Ya maybe not, but it was most definetely one! Which was all he needed! This idiot said pena gambled for two when he should have been going for one. Truth is he went for two but most definetely achieved the one point criteria. Again there are actual rules that need to be followed.
About the duck football game, which i was at... The game was reffed by pac ten officials who are not even from oregon? If you watched the game there were many blown calls going both ways. But simple minded bush voting okies u only are capable of seeing your side. Truth is that u cant win big games if you cant put it in the end zone when u get into the red zone. You need to actually make your field goals when they are all but give me's. No there were bad calls both ways and the okies were in potion to win the game many times but through horrible execution they blew opportunty after opportunity to win that game. Missed opps on their own play, yet u all want to blame officials. No I would look at myself and what I did or didn't do before I blamed officials.

Why do people love to hate pena? Cause he is good? Sure seems to me that everyone on here that actually believes he doesnt get screwed is loving the fact that he lost. That is sickening. The fact that he threw his headgear doesnt matter, he had a right to be upset when your on top of someone when you started on bottom and there is no points is rediculous? Rj out worked him taking and almost getting a ton of shots but swan just kept backing up and stalling. Never shooting. If Rj had lost fair and square this would of been so different but he didnt he got a bad call when the refs should of been paying attention.

When kids are young, they sometimes have a hard time controlling their emotions. You need to regroup yourself and calm down.

Watch the match when your reasoning returns and don't let a wrestling match ruin your life.

Please stop the crying, your guy lost because he couldn't finish in a close one.

My eastern guys aren't complaining,:) give the oks their due in this one.
Your west coast guys are both good wrestlers and I hope they do well in college.

apparantly you don't read too well. RJ was a 145lber and Swan was 152. Big difference as all could tell.

fact is, rj got hosed in this match and yes the ref should give it up if these are the kind of calls he makes regularly. there should've been no less than 1 on that scramble at the end. And how was there not stalling called on Swan during this match? He did absolutely nothing from his feet. Is this the same ref who called Nickerson/Donahoe's boring match?
And for OK fans to cheer because the ref handed Swan the match, just shows me how much they really know about wrestling.

Myauthoritah, you are kidding right?

You actually used your keyboard to type "Our colleges actually have the home court dissadvantage."
Probably the worst back to back calls in college football history were made a couple of years ago in favor of the Oregon U football team as gifts to fix a win for them.... Does "Onside Kick" ring a bell?
Water under the bridge, but please, no more crying.
Pena never got his right arm around Swan in the last seconds because Swan had it blocked and continued to block it as he kept scooting his hips away.
Pena was trying to get his right arm over Swan's far leg to finish, but he couldn't do it.
Look at Pena's right arm at the end of the match, it is still on the left with his other arm because it was blocked off, keeping him from finishing once again.
He should have tried for 1, but he gambled for 2 and couldn't finish.

Wow, corruption! I am really glad I was not there, I would have made a seen! Was there ever a stall call on the okie kid? Did i see it right on my computer screen, did the official actually tell the kid to go down after he chose up?

Hey cowboys, getting ur hand raised at all costs is not winning. There are actual rules that must be followed weather ur guy is winning or not. How was that not a loss of control. Even okies should have been booing! I was impressed by the balls that rj showed but not surprised. He out wrestled the okie kid in every phase of the sport.
I mean no disrespect to the okie, he was just trying to win. Stalling and backing up was his only shot. I think he will be and is a very good wrestler.I dislike oklahoma just a bit more today than yesterday! What Oregon officials don't get is that is how it is, we a very fair minded here. Our colleges actually have the home court dissadvantage. Our college officials need to watch this match and change the way they call our duals. Ussually its the questionable call that always goes to the home team, this was blatently wrong! Which other page in the rule book should i rip out that will be ignored?

it was not 1because as you can see pena didn't get his arm free at the end to wrap around swans body...it was trapped...according to the text he did not have control of the reversal...if he let go of the leg, he most likely would have gotten the 1 but since he tried going for the 2 and time ran out before he could get the reversal, no call...

reply
Joe O'Gorman   March 29 at 12:01pm
Stephen Swan, the heavily muscled grappler in the red singlet, faces RJ Pena, the lithe grappler in the blue singlet: Swan represents the state of Oklahoma from the legendary wrestling community of Perry and Pena, out of Oregon, represents the national Dream Team. Swan grinds and hand fights: Pena, the more active shooter, penetrates on multiple singles but can't finish against the stronger Swan. Both wrestlers’ show excellent explosive stand-ups garnering each an escape point to take a 1-1 score into overtime. Pena again nearly scores on a well-initiated single, but Swan fights it off on the edge of the mat. Swan escapes with a stand-up again in overtime. Pena can't escape from the powerful Swan, although he almost reverses him at the end with time running out. Pena, more highly ranked than Swan nationally and the more active wrestler, loses in an upset win by Swan. Swan, his strength, mental toughness, and his good fortune stymied the faster, more active, and more technically polished Pena. The score separated the competitors by only a point, yet the match seemed even closer than that one point.
