Ncspartan   March 23 at 7:28pm
trust me io have seen this kid wrestle and my brother has wrestled him, he doesnt have to showcase moves when he is a step above everyone else in his state. it is hard to say he would be teched by perry when he has a fargo national championship under his belt, his strength is also unreal! stop hating on the kid, hes a stud for sure.
reply
Zach   March 20 at 5:23pm
jjp shut up douche. stay out of our . you don tknow anything your saying and NY would beat NJ ass all night. dont make fun of our d1 d2
reply
Zach   March 20 at 5:18pm
jjp you have no idea :) trust me
reply
Ok Now   March 17 at 4:33pm
if you win a state title obviously you have skill and if the 3/4 is the move he mastered im sure he will catch some people in college with it he is one of the tougher kids who have came up through new-york
reply
Yeah   March 16 at 10:39pm
these kids arent weak he just hits the move on everyone. No one would tech him and complatanno would probably get pinned . he has the ability to pin anyone with this move . if u try it yourself its hard to do . Not only is meys strong he has great technique and i doubt complatanno would take him down he is destroying kids just with 1 move and you act like thats all he has. as for chris perry he may take austin down but he also could get pinned . I've wrestled top kids in the nation at heavier weights like orlando scales the #1 ranked 215 i nthe country and i have to say meys is the best kid i have ever wrestled.
reply
Not A Chance   March 15 at 7:12pm
yea idk if anybody is going to tech austin meys
reply
Front Head Lock   March 13 at 3:18pm
thats a front head lock not a 3/4 nelson.
reply
Freeky Strength   March 11 at 8:42pm
last wrestler with his kind of freakish strength was dan
gable.
reply
Anonymous Coward   March 11 at 8:41pm
Perry from OKLAHOMA would Tech him.
reply
Mike Prendergast   March 11 at 8:19pm
I'm a coach at a local hs and known Meys for a long time. This dude is strong. I wrestled him 1.5 weeks before states and I weight 20 more pounds and just tossed me around. This kid's strength is for real. I'm not saying that he will overpower everyone in college and he would do this to an Okie State kid. Some of you guys that post need to realize he is ranked in the Top 10 in the nation for a reason and he is wrestling for Lehigh next year on a scholarship for a reason. His cradle is tough, his 3/4 nelson is tough, the shots he actually do are tough.
reply
Skipper   March 11 at 8:01pm
That 3/4 nelson seems Middle school, hard to believe that he pinned 4 kids in NY state tournament with this kind of move.
reply
Rude Awakening   March 11 at 6:50pm

Anonymous Coward   March 10 at 10:34pm
dude both these kids look fat.
some bush league 3/4 nelson should not let u waltz through the state tourny.
bush league my friends, bush league
reply
Neil Phillips   March 10 at 8:17pm
I don't think that he would be able to last four minutes with Chris Perry from Oklahoma. Others from NY seem to think so but I highly beg to differ.
reply
Darth Vader   March 10 at 3:34pm
weak sauce, youre lack of faith is disturbing.
reply
Darth Vader   March 10 at 2:36pm
the ability to win a state tourney is insignificant compared to the power of

the force.
reply
Weak Sauce   March 10 at 10:19am
That was such weak sauce. He'd be lucky to win a title in most states with that lazy technique.
reply
Anonymous New Yorker   March 10 at 10:08am
i'm sure anonymous coward and jjp would know what there talking about

because their both former gold medal winners in B.S.
reply
Anonymous Coward   March 9 at 8:43pm
camp would wreck this kid. camp is too good on his feet and to strong to get muscled.
reply
JJP   March 9 at 7:49pm
Hey Zack, HAHA, and the rest of you ignorant wrestling fans who type complete nonsense on this site. That 3/4 nelson that Meys relies on isn't going to work at the next level. It shouldn't even work at the HS level. Muscling kids to their back like that in the state tournament is a joke. The kid that Meys decked in the finals (and his coaches) should be ashamed. They must have known that Meys was going to excusively try that 3/4 garbage on him, and he still gets rolled. Anyone who thinks that Meys could do that to Campolattano (a sophmore) is delusional. And anyone who thinks that NY is superior to NJ is crazy as well. There are reputable and unbiased wrestling publications that rank the top wrestling states in the country. NJ is ALWAYS ranked higher than NY. Normally only behind PA and OH. One state champion in NJ- enough said. None of this multiple division crap.
reply
Glen   March 9 at 6:03pm
oh, almost forgot , heres a shout out too Bruce Baumgartner , from NJ.

one of the greatest freestyle wrestlers ever.
reply
Glen   March 9 at 5:41pm
why don't we all have respect for our fellow wrestlers and let time speak for it
self. i'm sure many questions will be answered in the years ahead. let's wish
them all well and hope one of them brings home the gold like former niskayuna
ny great jeff blatnick did.
reply
Hmmmm   March 8 at 4:55pm
You can hear a coach wanting Austin to crush his opponent's throat, and Austin does exactly that. So Austin's trademark finish is a three quarters nelson with a dangerously crushing squeeze to the wrestler's on the receiving end larynx. The opponent gets relief from the feeling; he is going to die, soon after he flops on his back like a fish. If he does not give up then, a little more squeezing and crushing . Is this a Jutsu So finishing move with shade?
reply
Anonymous Coward   March 8 at 4:14pm
hmmmm sounds like there should be a NJ vs NY tourney. There should be a Shore conference vs NY all star team because thats all we would need
reply
Zach   March 6 at 11:28pm
none of you dont know one thing on what your saying. anonymous coward shut your ass up. NY wrestling will wreck the out of nj or all those other states you said. austin meyers way better than you think and everyone else thinks. stop talking your everyone cuz you dont know NY at all. let us be and do our own thing
reply

compaltonno lost to the kid from ny over the summer when he got hurt haha he was heavier . Oh and the kid in the finals beat boley junior national champ yeap he sucks . who cares about the comp he would beat complatanno
reply
Anonymous Coward   March 5 at 8:13pm
look at the kid he is wrestling in the finals... that is the competition he is facing.... look at 189lbers from NJ in the state tourney preview.
reply
Anonymous Coward   March 5 at 8:10pm
Dude the kid is a sophmore and won states as a freshman and is 85-0 in NJ (10x Better than NY). He would make that kid eat 3 quarters.
reply
Huh?   March 5 at 8:57am
How can you guarantee that?

ok meys pinned matt loew that got 2nd at soph nationals he would have beaten boley that had won junior nationals beating piro on the way to the finals. you watch these matches thinking all he does is a 3/4 . with just 1 move he had beat everyone in the tournament i have wrestled him and i have wrestled top kids in the country and he would definetely beat camplatanno or mancuso or whoever is at pa or wherever .
reply
Anonymous Coward   March 3 at 11:42am
he might not even place in NJ states this year. He surely wouldnt beat Campolotano, Becker, or Mancuso. Odds are he wouldnt beat George, Newman or White either. Maybe a 7/8th place
reply
Cementmixer130 Smith   March 3 at 6:51am
Anyone see Austin Mays, he pinned everyone in the tournament in the first period of each match !
reply
Wow   March 2 at 10:38pm
The top 3 from Illinois would major him definitely... i would love to see Gonzalez wrestle him. Jeezus Crist how many pins do you see in a state finals. people say new york is a wrestling powerhouse they need to step it up a few notches to ever compete with IL, Pa, NJ, and OHIO
reply
PA   March 2 at 8:56pm
He wouldnt win pa states he would prolly place but wouldnt win it for sure but why arent they covering pa states
reply
Yeah   March 2 at 7:48pm
he wouldnt get majored

Wrestler   March 2 at 6:08pm
meys is a great wrestler but i would have to say perry from oklahoma would major him, not taking anything thing away from meys, perry is just that good. you want to see good technician watch perrys reno finals were he wins ow or his state finals match. kid is a freak! But with meys going to leheigh and perry to osu im sure they ll meet up to put all these questions to rest. good luck to both of them.
reply
Until You Win   March 2 at 6:03pm
your not the best from ny until you win the gold. Blatnick did. austin meys

is destroying people already and most likely will do very well.

i think loew has a hard on when hes getting pinned
reply
Brian   March 2 at 11:56am
as far as the best wrestler ever from new york, the list starts with troy nickerson, and jesse jantzen
reply
Glen   March 2 at 2:18am
if you want an idea of how good he is why don't you ask someone who would
know. Try Jeff Blatnick gold medal winner.
reply
WOW   March 2 at 12:33am
Meys is an animal! end of story
reply
Bv   March 1 at 11:06pm
meys has the ability to pin any of them perry , camp, or whoever . Ben krakower isnt even that good. yeah he pins every 1 with his 3/4 but the kid is strong but its his technique how he hits the moves what angles hes really good and i think hes def top in the country. I mean maybe ed ruth can give him a run but that 3/4 could catch anyone.
reply
Joseph Toto   March 1 at 10:51pm
best wrestler at tourney , no doubt
reply

Obviously a good wrestler....however, he will not be able to run through college wrestlers this way....Hopefully his mind frame is right...and he will adapt to having to wrestle tough for 7 mins.

BlueDevil73   March 1 at 12:32pm
Yo whined, "Yea right. If he has technique I havn't seen it. Looks like he just uses strength. Grabs the guys arm like a , pulls the head down then tries the 3/4. Looks slow on his feet, doubt he has an resemblence of a shot."

Austin Meys is a:
3 time NYS champ
Repeat champ this year
Undefeated for last 2 years: that means he won every trny he entered!
NYS Trny Most Outstanding Wrestler for 2 years in a row! --> An amazing accomplishment!!!
National Champ 2 years ago
You don't accomplish all that without having more than a few moves. If he tries one move at the start of the match, and it works, he doesn't need any more. And with only needing 3:36 on the mat for 4 matches just how many moves could he fit in?
You wear your jealousy like a tattoo. Give the guy the credit he deserves.
He is arguably the best wrestler to "ever" come out of New York. Ever!
reply
Yo   March 1 at 12:04pm
Ok daddy Meys. You're right no coach has ever recruited a wrestler that flops, especially Santoro.
reply
YoYo   March 1 at 10:58am
...sounds like someone is jealous. Or got decked by Mr. Meys.

Pat Santoro has a good history of evaluating talent. I doubt Santoro would have gone after Meys if he didn't feel there was a lot to work with. I suppose time will tell.

Why not? If it works... you use it. He's going to Leheigh. And don't worry, he's got plenty more plus he's an excellent technician.
