Great for Phil Davis. He is a class act. He treats the youth kids great and is a great role model. If ever a kid deserved to win a championship its phil.

ya know I really hate to say this but it needs to be said, why is it that when a black guy wins not enough people say "man what a talented guy? instead they wonder how he could have possibly cheated some white kid out of the title? If you know anything about davis you would know he was looked the same since his jr year in high school...hes not some 130 pounder who went to college and popped up jacked. And before I read some overdrawn excuss for your stupidity lets be real all good wrestlers are ripped especialy the ones in the finals so why else would you even bring rumors of steroids into the question unless you wanted to make a racial connection to all the successful black athletes.

To screw tj x: Yeah ok, you mean guys Alexander Leipold of Germany who won the German Nationals 18 times along with 3 European Titles and 2 World Championships...and he also handled Brandon Slay in 2000 with relative ease to claim the gold medal. Oh yes, he also tested positive for steroids and was stripped of his Gold medal but I guess he is a bad example of "wrestlers that use steroids wont make it mentally in a sport that makes you on edge every second your are involved in it..." as you so WRONGLY stated. Seems he had quite a bit of success over an illustrious career spanning 2 decades. The fact is screw, and you won't like to hear this, steroids is prevalent in wrestling at ALL levels. Again, I am not saying I am for it or against it, I am simply telling it like it is.

as mainstream as wrestling is (sike) noones going to bring the sport of wrestling into a congressional hearing in ten years let alone before the world ends. Popularity for one and the fact is the wrestlers that use steroids wont make it mentally in a sports that makes you on edge every second your are involved in it. your idea of males not getting ripped after 12th grade is ridicoulous because males dont stop growing at the ripe age of 18.in college where you half serious structured programs to get you ripped up its easy to believe steroids and performance enhancing drugs have nothing to do with the evolution of a young man

Dear usa: Huh??? Please copy and paste where I said anything negative about Phil Davis??? The guy is amazing, he worked a lifetime to achieve his goal which showed in his heartfelt moment in the tunnel following the finals, he is charismatic, great in front of the camera, super smart he sounds, a great son, just and incredible athlete through and through! I simply made a post yesteday that I wondered how prevalent HGH and other performance enhancers are in our beloved sport which NOBODY likes to talk about for some reason. We are seeing Hollywood movie actors using them, golfers, swimmers, baseball players, cheerleaders, MMA fighters, boxers, football players, and probably every member of the Judy Garland fan club (who knows anymore!). But of course in wrestling, one of the fiercest most compative and competitive sports filled with severe injuries and long grueling rehab periods everybody is a saint. Oh, ok, that almost sounds reasonable. When guys in the 149 lb weight class go from wrestling a lean 130 in 12th grade then suddenly 4 months later are bulked up beyond belief and absolutely shredded, I would bet those guys are doing more than eating Mom's spinach and carrots and working out really hard. Sorry to break everybody's hearts, these are issues that need to be discussed now before we see in 10 years our heroes sitting in front of Congressional committees lying their heads off about using these illegal drugs. ATTACK the problem now, clean up the sport before it destroys itself.

PSU2000, that was a rather interesting post. "We wrestlers do not need HGH..." Uhhh, ok. But it sure helps. I was matside all season and simply put folks, in my opinion, HGH and every other steroid imaginable is as prevalent in our sport as it is in EVERY other sport and Olympics these days. I never made a statement saying whether I was for or against it, I simply wondered what you folks thought.

TJ X the fact is that we wrestlers do not *need* HGH, let alone use it... we accomplish our goals through hard ass work, day in and day out -- it does not matter for one second that you second guess the results you see in an athlete like Phil Davis through your biased eyes, which come from way, way outside the sport -- we are all natural, while short cuts in life are for the answer for people like you

I wonder how prevalent HGH is in the sport of wrestling? I mean, if a bunch of baseball pitchers and swimmers use it like candy, one can only wonder how many of these 18-22 year old KIDS in this highly combative physical sport are using it.
