Under Buck, Columbia finished 4th as a team at the EIWAs 4 years ago and 5th 3 years ago. Two years ago, Columbia had it's first ever top 25 ranking in the country for about a month. They had their first two-time all American ever, Matt Palmer, with Buck as coach. No doubt about it this last year was terrible, but they had their first EIWA champ in 14 years with Ryan Flores. Give them a chance to rebuild.

I agree with Samson. It's a shame some of the losers like Buckley that get D1 jobs because most real coaches won't work for nothing.Imagine if Columbia had a real coach, they would be awesome.

Buckley is a coach who is hired because Columbia doesn't take it's wrestling very serious-It's a shame the losers that are hired at the low level D1 programs--They save the money for football and basketball but they don't pay the other sports well--That's how Columbia gets stuck with a Buckley

I met Coach Buckley at the Easterns this year and was very unimpressed. He has trouble putting his thoughts together and actually seemed quite unaware. His team was burnt out and I noticed a lack of spark in their wrestling--usually a sign of a coach who doesn't know how to peak his squad

I met Coach Buckley at UVA while my oldest son was attending an elementary camp. I still use a lot of his techniques while coaching the Youth Team in Charlottesville.

Seems like he's got things moving the right direction. Has Columbia ever had an NCAA champ?
