ryan lost a leg in an accident

Heading into his senior year of high school, this three-time state wrestling champion lost his left leg (and severely injured the right one) after a tragic accident at his rural home.

That could have been the end of the story as far as Kocer's promising wrestling future was concerned.

But fading away has never been this kid's style. Kocer announced over the weekend that he will return to action at the Clash, a national dual tournament hosted by Rochester, Minn., on Jan. 4-5.

Make no mistake: Kocer is not taking the mat for sentimental reasons. He's still No. 1 in South Dakota's 152-pound Class B rankings.
