California only has one champion at each weight, but I gurantee that Ohio wrestlers as a whole are much more competitive than California wrestlers are. Wrestling on the west coast is considered mediocre compared to the east coast. Trust me. I know from experience. Don't get me wrong there are a lot of talented wrestlers on the west coast.
Discussing how many live in Ohio is not a valid exucse. California has one state champion at every weight class. The population of California compared to Ohio is not even comparable.
