Wow.... you meant to say the lawsuit is unfounded, because the story is based on public records and is completely founded. So, why would a SUCCESSFUL athlete need to file a lawsuit if there was no basis for it?

If this works it will be because Root and his partners all worked together. He is not in this alone nor is he claiming to have funded it himself. He was very gracious stating that it would not have been possible without his partners. I think that he has helped bridge the gap between wrestling and MMA in the area. He said to all of us during the tour of the facility, that this was a great opportunity for wrestling, but that it would be heavily funded on the MMA side. I don't see why anyone would have anything negative to say. Be happy that something is being done to better the wrestling world. Can we not just focus on what a positive this could be? You don't like it, then why do you continue to come on this piece and post? Sounds like you just don't like Root. That's fine, but why beat up an entire facility that will only help wrestling?

By the way, Richie Root, is a youth pasture in TN. Why someone would come on here claiming to be him is ridiculous. Have some class.

Sounds to me like things are going in the right direction. Anonymous Coward your name fits you well. I know the Root family well, combining what they have built Prodigy into and what their other partners bring to the table has obviously convinced them enough to invest the money they have invested in this. As for the returned phone calls, it sounds like you weren't worth calling back. All of you posts have been negative. This is a great thing for the area, why would you be negative. Mark my words, YOU'RE A MORON!

This will not last even a year, mark my words! Talking about doing an operation this big is just talk. Keeping it up and running will take alot of work, and Root does not have the skills to do so. Ever tried to get the guy to return a phone call?

He did take a large group through the building about a week and a half ago. It is enormous. There is room to expand, but they already have dorm rooms. There is an entire wing for a sports medicine program to go. There is an enormous weight room, and a huge sauna. There were locker rooms for men, women, and coaches. They have a heated wrestling room as well as an open wrestling room. There are 3 or 4 private training rooms. There is plans for a track and there was talk about indoor turf. It is the coolest thing I have ever seen for wrestling.
The MMA side of things has multiple cages, a boxing ring, a huge heavy bag room, an area for excel. training. Any wrestler looking to transition would be stupid not to join this gym. Bas Ruttan is a partner, and I heard that the MMA guy has contracts with the UFC, Dream, and several other promotional companies.

"On a side note, what's with the Jack Daniels display in the background? At least he could have stopped by a REAL bourbon stand, especially since Cincy is on the KY border!"
Makers Mark will be served at Root's training center.

Ryan has already had great success with Prodigy wrestling with SW Ohio kids. I can only imagine what success he'll have with this type of facility. On a side note, what's with the Jack Daniels display in the background? At least he could have stopped by a REAL bourbon stand, especially since Cincy is on the KY border!

I really like the fact that this is in Ohio and easier to get to than the OTC. So many athletes would love to go somewhere and train, but Colorado SPrings is far from accessible.
Seems like a great opportunity for wrestlers looking to head into the world of UFC. You can go to a gym with Couture, Lindland, or Hughes and be the small man on the totem pole or you can go get trained by bas rutten at a facility designed for wrestlers and be the big dog and able to climb up the circuit quicker. Love it.
When do we get to see this place?

Just Curious - I don't want to give any names and cause problems. I heard they have been working closely with USA Wrestling to bring in coaches from the training center.

I think that you'll find that they are looking to pull in the best coaches they can and are willing to pay good money for top level coaches. Coach Root has had some very big names in town interviewing. I think that they are willing to pay the money you are talking about. They went to the trials to speak with several top level competitors.

I talked with Ryan about the facility. It's over 50,000 square feet. There are residential living quarters, a weight room, three different wrestling rooms, and a huge sauna. The staff he seems to be pulling in looks to rival that of most any wrestling room in the country. He said he wanted to create an environment that would make wrestlers want to relocate and train. Looks like they are headed in the right direction. I'm glad Flo is covering this.

It will be hard for Coach Root to find coaches who are willing to uproot and move to Cincinnati for wrestling unless he is funding them with some serious cash. It is a step in the right direction for Southwest Ohio Wrestling and will only help to keep Ohio on top as the premier wrestling state in the country.

We are excited to see the final product. He took his club through the facility last week after having Ray Brinzer in for a clinic. It is amazing how big it is. We can't wait. This is great for wrestling.
