more like the edge is that if you want to win in new jersey you have to be really good since there is only 1 state tournament...

cdeboflex,

I agree with UT. Why teach them twice. Teach them the right way once. It really does not take a lot of technique to make a champion. It takes a few techniques done well.

cdeboflex- I'm an old EDGE kid from the late 80's. I've just gotten back into wrestling and I have to say that Ernie's influence on my wrestling education was/is profound. I wasn't very accomplished in high school but we need to teach our kids better from the ground up. We need to start them with better habits. If they learn to "flow" from move to move in the beginning maybe we can save them from some crossfaces and other unneccesary punishment. Also, the way Ernie addresses the kids is almost unmatched in my experience in life. He makes kids think they are winners. Not bad.

Karl monaco was A multiple div III champ, and he placed 2nd in Div. I. He was also an alternate for the olympic team. I went to the qualifier in Philadelphia as a kid

Both John & Karl were multi Div. III champs for Montclair State, both were div. I All-Americans. Ernie's system and program is top of the line for all kids, regardless of ability. He has taken inexperienced and new athletes to the sport and helped them achieve their goals, not just the "ringers". Guys like Pritzlaff and Esposito, among many, many, many others developed their basic style under Ernie's tutelage. Ernie is a great guy, he worked hard with me and I was new to the sport and never accomplished much in high school, but what I learned from him helped make me a relatively succesful coach at the high school and Div. III college level.

cdeboflex: by and large this guy is not working with kids who are new to the sport, he is working with good kids and trying to take them to the next level therefore his style is great for those kids

Maybe most high school kids aren't doing this, but if you look at the kids who place at state every year (in Ohio for me), they are doing this. If you look at teams like Eds, Graham, and Blair, they are doing this. I can't understand why you'd think it's a bad thing to teach kids what the best kids in the state and nation are doing.

im sorry, but i don't agree with his method of teaching highschool and youth program teams. some kids coming into highschool barely know how to wrestle, let alone like a college kid. most kids in highschool don't wrestle this way that ive seen anyway.
