Steve, to answer your question briefly:
The wrestler who is winning the period gets to go on top after 1:30 of wrestling. He has the option to start in a reverse gut or traditional par terre. A well defined set of criteria is in place in the case the period is tied 0-0 and is available at http://www.themat.com/forms/Rulebook.pdf. Both wrestlers no longer get the opportunity to start on top in a reverse lock each period.

Do they start in a reverse gut anymore, or did that rule change? I didn't see them practicing from there?

Bill is one of my favorites...it was always well-known that Za was the hardest worker when he trained at the OTC...he does just love the sport.
