It's the same old money running the show with big business. College football polls come to mind. Keep up the fight Martin.

This would actually help all college coaches & HS coaches that have to take the time to get the results to others (media) and simply allow others to access and give coaches more time to coach (not sure what anyone would need to hide) in fact it would help everyone ensure more accurate data (as it would be open) not sure why it needs to be hidden from public view

why must flowrestling always attack the NWCA? How long has flowrestling even existed...a couple of months-barely any time at all! It is as if the NWCA is to blame for anything that goes wrong with wrestling. Wake up it is much more complicated.

That is pretty screwed up if it is true. Typical corporate organization looking out to make the money

A little bit over the top asking the NWCA to open up resutls...dont you think? We should all have to grovel to their site.

NWCA has done some good things for the sport but they seem to be falling out of line as of late. It is sad to see what is happening to the PAC 10 and something needs to change.

NWCA has watched wrestling decline for the last, i don't know how many years. Programs are getting cut left and right and they do the same thing year in and year out. Either NWCA has to wake up and change, we need to get a new organization, or wrestling dies.

Thanks flowrestling for your efforts!

On competition....ever since my 1st encounter with academia in kindergarten, I encountered competition......it enabled my evolution into the real world....competition keeps us honest! Way to go FLO...even if you have to take some shots as the leader of the pack, at least you are leading in an energized way and in the right direction for wrestling's future. Thanks!

Martin you are 100% right! I have been a fan of wrestling for years and have wondered why it was so hard to get results. Keep up the good work and the grassroots passion, you guys are making a difference.

Do The Right Thing

August 6, 2007
"Do the right thing."

We all have heard these four words. Maybe it was from a coach or a parent. Its simplicity cut through any kind of BS we might be ready to spew. A coach would say it and it stuck out like a sore thumb in my mind. Years later if I was trying to take the easy way out in something, those words would come to me and make me say to myself..."cut the BS and do the right thing."

Sometimes it would be hard...One summer I painted houses to make some extra cash. I would be pretty much done with a house except a small spot that probably no one would see. I have to say there were times when I didn't do the right thing. But ultimately when I told myself "Do the right thing" I would jump into my pick up and rush to the paint store.

I did it because it was the right thing to do. I could justify not painting it a million ways by saying "the lady underpaid for the job", or that "part of the house never would get any sun or rain because a tree is there"...the lists go on and on, but there is only one right thing to do: get the paint and finish the house.

By August 19th the NWCA will be confronted with a choice where they can do the right thing or take the easy road. Flowrestling will be following and blogging about this topic giving more insight to the wrestling community about this critical issue.

Fact:
Currently every program in the country is mandated to enter results into NWCA online site. Sometimes coaches do it, sometimes SIDs do it and sometimes even student athletes do it. It is a rule that every wrestling NCAA program must do.

The Right Thing:
Share exactly what the the SIDs, Coaches and Student Athletes put into that database with every media organization that may want to have access to it: wether it be NBC or Revwrestling.

This will help the sport of wrestling because sites like Flowrestling, Revwrestling, thewrestlingmall and hundreds of other sites can start using their abilities to pump wrestling results out to the public. Currently only one site provides comprehensive statistics and that is www.intermatwrestle.com a site owned by the NWCA.

It is clear why the NWCA would not want to open up the results as they would be creating competition, but America has been made great by competition. What the NWCA should accept is that competition will actually help the sport grow.

The fact is it isn't complicated or complex, and it isn't hard...it is real simple: Will the NWCA open up that raw database which the community of wrestling schools contributes to?

Furthermore Flowrestling or any other media company doesnt want or need the NWCA to polish up the results, correct the errors and then allow us to look at them. Flowrestling, Revwrestling and other sites will devise their own ways to correct polish and then pump the media results. We are completely capable.

Upside:
It can help wrestling inordinately by helping the wrestling media better promote the sport.

Downside:
Im still trying to figure it out

If the NWCA wants to ensure that more college wrestling programs don't get dropped it is time for them to do the right thing.
