Michael Lightner was a natural talent. However his freshman year could have ended much different without a turning point match against Jamile Kelley from Oklahoma State in the Big 12s. Michael Lightner talks about that match and why it was big and why he was able to step up on that day. That match there set him up to be a 4x All American and 3x NCAA finalist and NCAA Champion.

He went with Brands to Virginia Tech and followed him here at Iowa where he continues to work with his old team. In the 2007 World Trials he pulled off the upset of the tournament by going through every opponent to become the USA representative in the 2007 World Championships.
