Just 2 weeks ago on Oct 4th 2009, McQueen wrestled in a tournament
in the 130 lb weight class, in my opinion he wrestled very sloppy, and
if he had been wrestling anyone decent in that tournament, that he
would not have won.

This match had to be the most exciting to watch out
of the whole tournament.

That Grippi v. Cody Ruggirello match was sick, with only 5 seconds
left on the clock and down 8-5, Grippi uses the cementmixer to win.

Brian is the better wrestler hands down, i wrestled with him in highschool, that kid was born with wrestling shoes on, hes got over 130 wins and he is a 9th grader, he by far is one of, if not the best wrestler in section one currently, Section 11, although a great section with tough guys got penalized, yes ok, McQueen practically cried, Brian deserved this win by far

It was a sickkkk match and you might be part right about there being alot of frustration that got the best of McQueen, however, a true champion will always show good sportsmanship and class like Realbuto did thru out the whole state tournament, including when Realbuto lost to McQueen 10-8
last year when the shoe was on the other foot and McQueen won.

Anyway, to make a long story short, wrestling teaches us respect and good
sportsmanship and most of us who have wrestled know that this is some
thing that makes us into a better person and helps us to mature as we grow
up into men and teach our children from what wrestling has given us.
McQueen is a good athelte and im sure he'll use this to becoming a better an
stronger person and a better wrestler in the future.

The post makes plenty of sense, just look at the video and see for
yourself, McQueen took some dumb shots, plus he was non agressive
thru out most of the match and Realbuto kept coming after him.
Cejudo is correct in my opinion and did a wonderful job in training
Realbuto before the tournament.

Also, you have to give credit to coach Disanto who is Brian's coach at Somers high school, which now has its first New York State Wrestling Champ !

Finally, we have to give credit to Iowa Style Wrestling club which is coach by former state champ John Degl who wrestled for Mahopac high school.

A wrestler who does have alot of heart and a love for the sport always shows good sportsmanship and class.

Hopefully, he will learn from this whole thing and become a better person and a better wrestler.

Its like what Tony G. said who is from Section 11 who wrote :

Great match by 2 great athletes, today was Realbuto's day for good reason, the kid flat out never stopped wrestling, well done.

Im from Section 11 and have to say McQueens handling of the loss was embarrassing, shake hands, and get on the podium period !

It was a great match and very exciting but that 1 call for fleeing the mat was BS, Realbuto was more aggressive and did not make
many mistakes, whereas Mcqueen took some bad shots that cost him the match and Realbuto controled the whole 3rd period.

McQueen had little or no defense and was not agressive thru out most of the match and appeared like he was unprepared for realbuto aggressive style.

The unsportsmanlike conduct showed why he did not win cause a true champion always shows respect and honor in any sport.

Hopefully, McQueen will learn from this and turn himself around and maybe become a better person cause he is a talented athlete.

Realbuto wrestles in tournaments around the country thru out the whole year and he's only in 9th grade with a record 133 - 9 which is incredible.

Realbuto was'nt even seeded in this tournament when he rightfully
should have been ranked and seeded, specially with a 53-1 record.
Realbuto's only 1 lose of the season was to a 2x State Champ !

In all the years I wrestled and coached high school sports, I have never
seen a 9th grader win 133 matches with only 9 loses or go 53 - 1
in just one season in Wrestling and not be ranked or seeded in the
state tournament and then go on to win the 103 lb NYS title.......

Id like to see more wrestling matches, tournaments and duel
meets between Section 1 and Section 11 in the furture.

This match all came down to who worked harder in the season and offseason..hard work pays off..realbuto worked his ass off 364 days of the year right after he lost to mcqueen for the 3rd and 4th place thriller match that was close just like this years final. realbuto in my opinion obviously has much more talent than mcqueen, he technically beat him on his feet getting in on shots the whole entire match. he made no mistakes in this match and thats why he deserves to win it. he didnt make a mistake all year basically. its funny how brian's a state champ at 103 this year when he couldve made 96. oh and one last thing, sportsmanship is everything in wrestling. all this crap that everyones talking now is simply because mcqueen was a sore loser. If he shook hands with brian and showed a little bit of class, he could have avoided embarrassing himself, his coaches, his team, name and family, and many more things. On a final note, brain and mcqueen are two very talented wrestlers and thanks for making the finals worth watching haha.

IDK how Realbuto could have been unranked and unseeded and not get
the M.O.W. award in this tournament when the kid is only a 9th grader.

Overall I thought that Realbuto controled the whole match and was
by far the better wrestler and more improved wrestler since last year.

Pus Realbuto was more aggressive then McQueen thru out the match,
and had better composure, better mat sense, better on his feet,
better on his take downs, better prepared, more skilled and
somewhat stronger overall then McQueen, he did not want any
part of Realbuto nor seemed prepared mentally for this match.

There was no interview of Realbuto or his coach after that match
which I thought was strange cause for a 9th grader who is unseeded
and unranked in a tournament like this to win a state title is amazing.
IDK who does the seeding or ranks these wrestlers but they sure
made a big mistake in this weight class. Lets just see how they seed
and rank these guys next year, it should be interesting.

Im from Section 1 and in my opinion Realbuto did an outstanding job and deserved to be state champ ! Remember, he is only a 9th grader but the kid
works out, lives, sleeps, eats, practice, thinks of only one thing and thats wrestling and to be the best that he can possibly be and he wanted that state title more then anything else and everyone is proud of him cause he is now the champ ! Realbuto is a class act and will be working even
harder during the off season to retain his title for next year in 2010.

Just think how much stronger and more skilled Realbuto will be by
next year after he works out and wrestles in tournaments thru out
the country this year ? How many 9th graders do you know that
won a state title and think, eat, sleep of just wrestling ?

Does anyone even know how hard Realbuto works out year around on his wrestling skills, conditioning, weight training, et. ?

This kid worked his butt off to win this title, make no mistake about it.. Realbuto is the real deal and will keep getting better each and every season.

He even trained with Cejudo prior to winning a state title.

You have to give Brian's coaches alot of credit too cause they did an incredible job with such a talented athlete.

Congratulations Brian ! Way to go ! You did a great job ! We can't wait to see you wrestle again next season ! What an exciting match, its too bad that Mcqueen was a sore loser and refused to even shake hands or recieve his 2nd place metal which really hurt Section 11 in more ways then one.

Lets not forget that brian is only a 9th grader and is on track to breaking every record in New York State history if he keeps wrestling at this level.

I agree with Tony G. from Section 11 who wrote: Great match by two great atheltes, today was Realbuto's day for good reason, the kid flat out never
stopped wrestling, well done.

Im from Section 11 and have to say McQueens handling of the loss was embarrassing, shake hands, and get on the podium period !

I could see by the logic of the defense being launched that anything much deeper would been passed over without notice. Beside that this string needed a break.

Great Match   March 2 at 10:35pm
Good match, both very skilled, Reabuto just had too much for McQueen - why was McQeen looking up at the ref at about 8:14 - seemed like he was looking for a stalling call when he should have been focused on tying the match with an escape. The reversal at the end of the first showed Realbuto's determination but I was suprised that McQueen got burnt on such a Jr High move - he was just way out of position and out hustled. As far as McQueen pouting at the end of the match, that kind of thing happens far too much for my taste. It is right to point it out and condem it. I've seen parents behave much worse but it is too bad that the kid had to be forced to shake hands and was so prideful that he couldn't bring himself to accept his medal.

Who cares about how he acted, he wrestled his behind off all season.

What "argued call" are you talking about that "caused Mcqueen to lose?" The one where the ref gave him a point for Realbuto "Fleeing" when Mcqueen was stalling? Or the quick two that the ref gave Mcqueen just before that? This match was ALL Realbuto, the ref kept it close. No doubts about that fact that he was the State Champ of that weight...excited to see him next year.

Poor sportsmanship is what we can often expect from the Suffolk team. They should take notes on a few other guys....some real class acts out there.

I never said he was a loser. I thought it was a great match but all your talking doesn't make him the winner of the match. HE LOST. but since you brought it up I will say that he ACTED like a LOSER which is sad after such a great performance. I am sure that if he would have won and Realbuto would have acted that way you would have said that Realbuto was a " real winner". HAHA. The only haters on here are the ones hating on the "real" winner of the match.

All the McQueen defenders need to get a grip. It doesn't matter if its the state finals. If he did not want second then he should have won the match but guess what HE LOST. You can make all the excuses you want but HE STILL LOST. He got BEAT. HE IS NOT the better wrestler. He is the guy who LOST. He took Second place not first. He is Not the champion, the winner, the victor or the beast of the east. He is a wrestler who took second place in the tournament and all of your wining, moaning, excusing, defending can't make him the 2009 state champion. If he learns from his bad attitude maybe next year he will work harder and beat the young man who this year was better.

These are the facts of the match
1) Both wrestlers wrestled a heck of a match, Realbuto won this match because he was the superior wrestler of THIS match. Maybe Mcqueen can beat him but by this match Realbuto dominated, regardless of the score which could have been even more in favor of Realbuto.
2) McQueen disrespected himself. Every second place finisher worked the entire year to get first and it all fell through. McQueen was the only one who wasn't man enough to get on the podium. Ok I forgive him for running off, it was the heat of the moment. The awards on the other hand were unacceptable unless someone in his family's life was in danger.

Congratulations Realbuto, I watched the entire match and you looked dominate and are improving at such an awesome rate. Keep it up.

Another Point   March 2 at 8:28pm
First of all, Realbuto is filthy. I expect big things from this kid. I believe he will break the NY state all time win record.

Second of all, Realbuto was the better man in this match. His neutral was superior as was his composure/mat sense.
Finally, McQueen is no doubt a great wrestler. I can let it pass with the "heat of the moment" not shaking Realbuto's hand at the end of the match. However, the awards ceremony was about a half an hour after the match and McQueen did not show up for the PODIUM!!!! That is awful and if I was his coach, I would have a long talk to him. Remember, wrestling is a sport. It builds character, but most of all should mold these kids into fine young men. Damon, unfortunately shed a dark light on his coach, his school, his section, and most of all, himself.

Not shaking hands and not showing up to the podium was a punk move. If you even remotely condone his actions you are saying, "When things don't go my way, I'll throw a tantrum till I get what I want."...Good luck with that one champs

Don't be a selfish punk and disrespect the greatest event in NY. His family should be ashamed of that. He wrestled a great match and it didn't go his way, too bad. Get over it and shake the kid's hand.

Mcqueen is 16 and yes he had bad sportsmanship WHATEVER, but do you really think its right for all of you to "disrespect" him. i think you guys go way beyond what really needs to be said. And maybe Mcqueen did have reasons for not making the podium that you'll never know, and honestly its none of your business. And you cant say he wanted it more or less than anybody. you dont KNOW him. you may see his matches and know his name but theres more behind it that you may never know. This is high school wrestling people. Lets try and remember that. They are ALL still kids.

Why is McQueen being disrespected in these comments? Because he showed no respect. Greatness in wrestling is measured by how you do it as well as what you do on the mat. To suggest that McQeen had "reasons" other than poor sportsmanship for not receiving his 2nd place medal does not ring true based on his conduct after losing. The medal ceremony takes place immediately after the following match - where could he have been, what could he possibly have to do that would interfer with his responsibility. This kid didn't "want it" any more than a thousand others who lose and show the class and respect to extend a hand to the victor and receive a medal that is earned even if it isn't first place - this what wrestling teaches.

Your attitude determines your altitude.

McQueen's poor attitude shows his immaturity. He does not have the heart of a champion - at least in this instance. Hopefully he can turn his attitude around otherwise his career will suffer. McQueen should be stripped of his silver medal for his protest absence at the medal ceremony- he acted like a punk- a college scout would pass on him - his coaches should be ashamed for not making sure that he carried out his responsibility to receive his medal and acknowledge the victor. Ara Abrahamian of Sweden received his 2008 Olympic Bronze Medal and then discarded it after the ceremony. He was stripped of his medal. Just a few weeks ago he begged to have it reinstated only to be denied. I would bet that Abrahamian would tell McQueen to amend his ways. Congrats to Realbuto.

AND how are you going to say that he cost section 11 all those points... ii wanna know what you mean by all those points just because he didn't come in 1st does n0t mean he cost them a whole bunch of points... and how many other section 11 people placed 1st.? You're sayin McQueen has poor sportsmanship as if he's the only wrestler that got mad and stormed off. And you are not in his position to speak down on him. You dont know his reasons for not going up on the podium and you cant speak until you do. These are high school wrestlers, there is no reason for anybody to go hard on any of the wrestlers. First of all, if you honestly believe Brian came on here and typed that, you don't deserve to procreate. Your DNA should not be allowed to sully the gene pool.

Let's go period by period and see who wins:
First period, Realbuto scores a takedown. 2-0, Realbuto choses optional start and lets McQueen up 2-1, McQueen scores a takedown 2-3, Realbuto hits a nice power switch for 2. Period ends 4-3 Realbuto.
Second period, Realbuto has choice and picks down. Realbuto gets an escape 5-3, McQueen gets a take down which he should not have gotten. At the 4:30 mark when he is awarded two you can see Realbuto still has McQueen's leg and neither wrestler has established control, 5-5. Mcqueen gets one for fleeing the mat, another questionable call. Any decent wrestler can tell you the way to escape a leg turk/lace is by crawling forward and freeing up your legs. 5-6 McQueen when time expires.
Third period, McQueen picks bottom and escapes 5-7. He immediately takes a bad shot and Realbuto capitalizes, 7-7. They scramble after the take down and McQueen gets an escape 7-8. Realbuto hits another good high crotch and gets a take down, 9-8 is the final score.
McQueen takes off his anklets and almost leaves without shaking Realbuto's hand. When he does go for the hand shake, he barely shakes and storms off. I don't care how in the moment you are, there is no excuse for a lack of sportsmanship. McQueen also did not show up to the podium to accept his award after the finals had concluded.
Brian dominated this match, he was more aggressive and wrestled cleaner than McQueen did. The score of this match should have been 9-5 Realbuto had it not been for two questionable calls.
