I used this in a high school match and got called almost as soon as I stepped over the leg for potentially dangerous on the knee. After the match my coach and I talked tho the ref about it and showed him the move. He was a good sport and even let me demonstrat on him. After our demonstration the ref admitted he was wrong and said he really liked the move.

“I was under the impression that a top man can only hold onto an ankle for five seconds before the referee will stop a match. Does anyone know if this would fly at the high school level? Thanks.”

-The 5 second rule applies in several situations in high school, but the ref will never worry about it if there is almost back exposure...including w/ the heel to the butt

The 5 sec rule applies to holding the heel to the buttocks after the man has been broken down. It is probably the least understood rule in the book and coaches and fans always say "5 secs on that ankle" but the time only starts when the opponent is broken down.

most refs at least a typical ny ref would not call stalling because they dont no all the rules and think in all american position is potentially dangerous in the sectional finals

yeah the ref will call you for stalling, which i think is bull. i'm not sure if he'll call you if you have his back exposed though.

Really similar to what Adolf Seger always used. It helped him put up quite a rap sheet.
Olympics: Bronze '72 Munich and '76 (Montreal)
FILA Worlds: Gold '75 (Minsk) and '77 (Lausanne, Switzerland), Silver '78 (Mexico City)

I've heard some call it the Garr (sp?) Series. Fadzaev used it a lot. Could be where Schultz picked it up from, along with his front headlock.
