What a wimp! If I had just won the quarters, I'd be celebrating with a beer and some groupies in the back. Then I'd crush Pucillo and Herbert and fly off to Vegas!
That's what I did when I placed 6th in our JV regional. You gotta know how to roll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This has all the elements of a great story! You can't blame Umbehauer one bit for crying. Throughout all of his career, he'd been so close on so many occasions and then he finally does it! All the hard work, all of the sacrifices, all of the dedication, the determination paying off. This is freakin awesome. Anyone who can't see that, has never sacrificed, worked hard, or giving up so much in their life for a goal.

Doug,

Forget the haters. Enjoy your victory. You did Lenape proud by going further than any wrestler in its history.
Forget comparisons to these multi-state champ pedigrees. You got there on hard work and gristle.

jaggers didnt cry because he was a blue chip recruit out of highschool who was born with the talent to be an all american. doug wasn't even a state champ who trained and sacrificed and went through a lot of adversity to get on that podium and deserves to celebrate it however he needed to.

Also jaggers tear ducts might have been dried up from the tanning beds hes been in lately

Doug, ONLY REAL MEN CRY! You are an awesome wrestler and a great man. You are a role model to so many wrestlers. The coaches are great at Rider and do care for the wrestlers, it is obvious! Congratulations to your parents.

Whats even more impressive is that he beat the same guy again to take 3rd.

Great journalism being able to capture this without infringing on his moment. Nothing wrong at all with it. I'm sure he's not embarrassed by it. Beating Keddy was a nice upset - and gets him the coveted All-American status that he will always have attached to his name.

Serious wrestlers understand this goes right to the heart of passion and dedication....You'd only understand it if you ever wanted anything so bad, you'd make the personally deprivating sacrifices needed, and for as many years as it takes, to get that thing. The amazing thing is that wrestlers do it for no gain other than what they expect of themselves. This is what makes the sport special and like no other.

when you give everything you have, everyday. For the opportunity to achieve something few have done. And you accomplish some feat that is comparable to beating Phil Keddy in 7 minutes of wrestling. You deserve to cry. I dont blame him.

Why show this? Because it shows another side and dimension of the sport. Wrestlers are suppossed to be tough and stoic, so it's nice to see the contrast. I think it's touching! Great bond between athlete and coach
