Matt Valenti was a calm and level headed wrestler, and earned his first national championship in 2006. He repeated the performance in 2007. In his 2007 championship match he faced Coleman Scott of Oklahoma State. He fell behind early losing the first takedown, but came back reversing Coleman Scott and ending up winning the match for his second national title.
