Lee Kemp is an even better person than he is a champion. Even in high school, he had every right to be chest thumping, but he was very reserved. He let his actions on the mat speak for him. He is the ultimate role model for all kids.

LEE Beat Gable at the Northern Open - that match marked the end to Gable's competitive career... His career as a Coach as second to none.

Lee Kemp was the reason I continued to wrestle. Being a black male there were not many black wrestlers. I remember getting the sports illustrated article with Mr. Kemp. I read it and it really inspired me.

He beat Gable in the Northern Open which was held in Madison up until the mid 90's. Gable was retired but chose to compete in the Northern Open that year.

Great in depth description of an incredible mental preparatory state. Does any one know when he beat Gable? U.S. Trials?
