Where Are Abas,Lewis,Rowlands?   July 12, 2008 at 9:56pm
Where are they? Shouldn't they be helping at the training camp? Aren't they required to help their countryman at the Olympics as a sparring partner? Why the f.uck are nothings like Max Askren and Angel Cejudo here when they couldn't get past the semis of the trials?

Folk Nut   July 11, 2008 at 1:49am
i love all 3 types of wrestling and would never want to see any of them be forgotten. I personally think that folkstyle is more exciting than freestyle though because in freestyle you are more hesitant to hit moves and create scrambles because of how easily your back can be exposed, although i do love a big throw, but you see throws in folkstyle also just not as much. just my opinion, but i dont think you should go bashing on folkstyle or freestyle because in the end they are both styles of WRESTLING and thats the sport that we all love.

Hey Buttluv, freestyle and greco are the reason wrestling is not a popular sport. It is so booooooooooring to watch compaired to folkstyle. Perhaps the olympics and world championships should be in folkstyle. I know that will never happen, but the sport would gain fans from it.

You're screwed. The Russians smoke cigarettes, then compete. Conditioning will not win for Askren. Mental toughness will.

He's too country to do such things. Plus only pansies have to study tape. Saitiev don't study no tape. He simply destroys.

Buttluv   July 9, 2008 at 2:34pm
I don't care too much for ASSKREN, but being that he is an unorthodox y dude, he might be putting on a show for all the flo videos in an effort to goad his opponents into believing that he isn't working hard and therefore think their matches with him will be a cake walk. Or he could just be someone who has great endurance and doesn't want to bugger up his knees before the olympics. Either or, I hope he and everyone else (besides Cejudo) from Team USA gets tore up and doesn't medal. Maybe after a horrid showing at the Olympics, wrestlers in the US will dump the crappiest style ever (folkstyle, collegiate, whatever you want to call that rubbish) and focus on freestyle and greco in the youth ranks up to college. Who knows maybe we could be more dominant in the sport than the Russians?

Bwh27   July 9, 2008 at 10:17am
Hey bill, when he claimed to outwork the other senior guys, first of all he's talking about his weight class, therefore you can't really doubt him when he's consistently beating each and every one of them comfortably. Secondly, he's not purely talking about conditioning, which obviously has NEVER been a problem for Askren in a match, a lot of that is mental and not running up hills better than other world class athletes. When Ben says the other 74kg dudes don't want to work he's specifically referring to the fact that they don't do everything necessary: study tape, fine-tune their technique, adjust to opponents, etc. Which I think is true, and disagreeing would be foolish after seeing the US Open and WTT.
