Joe Cisneros did not go to the youth program! He is originally from Santa Maria Area and then transfered to Bakersfield for 2 yrs and the transfered to Selma his last 2 yrs!! The other you are right they are from the the youth program!! Sorry Naser! I would at least gave Naser his brother Ali Husein a prouct of Naser but, his Ali's own brother did nothing 4 him! Ali went to State 4x and only places ONCE!!! WOW Naser, Brian, and Ishmeal good coaching!

You don't have to love Clovis, but you should at least respect them. In addition, no improvement was show in the teams ranking at state. In 2007 Selma placed 8th, then in 2008 8th again.
No improvement. Clovis moved up from 4th to 1st during the same time.

Brian, and Naser developed the team. Did you guys develop Pena, Valles, Cisneros, Mendoza, and Tovar? NO, you didn't. That's why I saw Pena's dad coaching from the side because you coaches weren't doing your job right. It worked out great for him because his son placed at state. Go coach someplace else, and try to develop a good program there. You coaches couldn't hold Sam Lopez's jock strap!

in all this garbage you all show what's wrong with Selma wrestling. everyone is worried about who is getting the credit instead of worrying about if the kids are becoming the best they can be. good luck to the selma KIDS with there new coach & staff. and to the old coaches, move on. if you really love kids and coaching, it wont matter what team you coach for. if you truely built this program building another wont be that hard. and selma's loss is some other programs gain.

How does Joey get the credit and not naser,Brian,Ishmail,when you now joey coaches the J.V. all the time, and yes he does a fine job,but in reality Naser and Brian run the Varsity, and Ishmail is the one who picks the kids after practice and works on his own time to prepare them. Frankly you are just intiminated by these three horses of coaches. Thats why they are not there, but a surprise will venue soon.

These wrestlers would do good with anybody in their corner, but with Sam Lopez they will take it to the next level. Perhaps Sam Lopez will build a state championship team. Has Naser, Brian, or Ishamil ever built a state championship team?, better yet, has Naser, Brian, or Ishmail ever place in the state tournament? If Selma ever does have a state championship team it would never have occurred under the former coaching staff.

Tuesday's practice was great! There were 22 wrestlers on the mat, not including coaches. All the blue chip wrestlers were there, plus several new faces. Coach Lopez is very knowlegable about the finer points about wrestling techiques. The kids got a very good work out. He really knows how to communicate to the kids and treats them with respect.

COME ON FOLKS GIVE IT UP WITH ALL THE NEGATIVE TRASH. LETS JUST IGNORE THEM; IT'S NOT WORTH OUR TIME TO RESPOND TO THEM.

It was a great practice. Glad to see that the right man for the job was hired. He comes to Selma motivated, organized, and with a great wealth of wrestling knowlege. The whole team is excited for the new year.

I've been a Selma wreslting fan since 1968. I use to go to matches when Ravlin was the head coach. A true fan sticks with team even when the team is just average.
Sam, I would like to welcome you to Selma wrestling. Am positive you will do a fine job with the program. Most of the Selma wrestling community will be behind you. Ignore the negative trash talkers and you will do just fine! P. S.

lopez is working on getting the selma team wrestling at the summer duals at clovis high according to the california wrestler he post there regulary he has been stating it's his team and he will be a coach in teh central valley before long

selma had to hire not only a coach but fill a job need at the school period, it just so happens the guy is a wrestling coach, but nothing indicates the selma admin went on a major coaching search to find someone show us proof of that and everyone will agree ner would be really replaced.it's great for a guy to build on campus relationships

The selma a.d. maybe did not in fact use good bedside manner when speaking to the media about the coaching role change the a.d. forgot to mention he asked husein to stay on the staff as a coach.so the guy stuck his foot in mouth what else is new.as far as ner is concered it's just a job title that means nothing to him.the school figures they now have an on campus guy to build relationships with the kids coming into the program.maybe the new guy would bridge the relationship with teh local club guy tovar

A "rainbow team" was a bunch of guys from different teams that were thrown together to make up a team at a tournament. Most of the guys were usually extra guys that teams brought to get some wrestling time in. They were usually 2nd or 3rd stringers.

Thats Selma's wrestling room. As you can see, it's still incomplete with the necessary stuff like; ropes, pull up bars and wall padding etc. The school needs to invest more $ into this program. The weight room is a joke and I think they are the only school that still has a dirt track. I know a dirt track has nothing to do with wrestling but it just shows how much this school really cares about their athletes. Some way these kids, coaches and parents find away to get good.

I think that regardless of who wins, this would be a duel to watch. Both teams have very technique kids, both staff have the experience to put a duel team together, and both communities have more wrestling support then anyone else around. Watching two teams like this could teach other teams and parents a thing or two about our sport. We filled the Save Mart center with the second biggest crowd in duel match history. I’m not saying that this would be the same, but I’ve heard it over and over again. “this is the hot bed of wrestling,” they should show the state what the central valley is made of. Let these kids shine because you all know that when it comes down to it, you’re in it for them anyways.

I really do think Selma has a shot at beating Clovis in a duel. Bonus points will be crucial.

Here is what I know. 250$ was offered to Selma to duel at Clovis and there was a Home and Home offered also with each home team keeping the gate. Not sure what is going to happen but if Selma wants it that bad it is there for the taking. Selma either wants it or they don't....period. I say do one at the beginning of the season and one toward the end so we can see who has improved the most during the year, in a duel format. Since people are already complaing about DETAILS of the duel I just don't see what it will prove dueling except more controversy.

At the Clovis West Shootout they divid all their profit to all the teams that show up?!! I don"t thing so!!! Clovis is the defending state champs, Selma has a very talented team that will compete for the state title next year. Why don't they meet at FCC and split the proceeds? It would be the dual match of the year in the state of California. I betcha flowrestling would even video tape it.

the selma coach was contacted by the head grand dragon via phone recently and coach hussein refused the dragon due to the fact the all mighty rath slayer could not and would not give reasoning as to why they selma would not be welcome at several tournaments which would take place in s--- kicker city

Brian Ramirez is the real reason why clovis and selma are not getting alone, he started it a long time ago when he was bashing our tournments
about how weak the doc is and how poor the seeding was thats all and coach husein got blamed because he is the head coach, and now you guys are not welcomed to the Doc, as far as Husein he stuck with Ramirez, because they are homies, so good luck to selma, but really we would love to wrestle you guys coach husein make it happen you got the dates pick one of them and lets wrestle.

Coach T wants to wrestle Selma. But will not work to lift the ban prohibiting Selma from wrestling at Zinkin, the Shoot out, and Doc B. That doesn't make any sense. Coach T. you can duel Selma at the Shoot out if you really want the challenge for your boys.

They should have the dual at a nutrual site. The Fresno City College would be able to accomodate the numbers and the profit would go to Fresno's only wrestling college.

Selma should not wrestle Clovis in a dual match. Coach T, wants to wrestler Selma in a dual match, but does not want them to wrestle in the Doc B and to top it off he wants to make all the profit by wrestling Selma @ Clovis. I would love to see Selma wrestle Clovis in dual match but only if they are allowed to wrestle at Doc B.

Selma should not dual Clovis unless they are invited to the Doc B. If they are invited to Doc B, I say let's do it. Since Clovis is so confidant the match should take place in Selma. You can see by the line-up of Clovis and Selma, both are tough. Neither team are intimadated of each other. I heard at the association duals that a Selma wrestler and Clovis wrestlers were spot together and they made fun of all this junk that is being written on flocast. Let the young men wrestle they deserve it.

Actually, Selma wanted to compete at the Doc B. From what I heard Clovis asked for the dual, not Selma. I think the dual would be great, but where would the dual take place? I say Selma high school!! go for it Selma!

dual or not, i dont think clovis really cares. but if selma wants a shot at clovis heres there chance. heres a chance to walk the walk. the talk has already been done.

instead of having a dual. why not just invited them to the doc b? selma cannot beat clovis at a dual, but a tournament? perhaps. so what clovis is saying is that selma is not good enough to invite to the doc b, but are good enough to invite to a dual? if clovis' high moral standards cause them to disinvite selma for doc b, how did those same morals find the compassion to invite them to a dual? perhaps an easier way to scout the selma wrestlers?????

as much fun as this is, none of how we see it matters....if selma accepts the invite to dual clovis, we'll see how the kids decide it next year. I know it will be woth the price of admision.

I am calling my congress to make a complain, that selma and clovis have to dual this season.

Selma and Clovis Coaches you guys are true coaches, don;t let anyone put you guys down, I got an idea, instead of going against each other, maybe team up and push each other in competing against each other all year to getting ready for state. I think you two clubs need to come together and squash it already, and wrestle together at the doc, shootout ect.

I don;t care for both clubs, but if selma puts up that line up seriously, I see selma winning because of switching Zarate, to 112, quintana to 119, that will make the difference, I will pay 25 dallers to see that match, good luck to both clubs. Coaching of course will help, but ultimately both selma and clovis kids are veterans and not afraid of each other.

Clovis knows that selma has a chance to win, but they will somehow win by recruiting a few upper weights, thats how clovis will win only by recruiting immediately other than that selma wins all the way

selma has some great talent. some of them could go on to do great things. But look at the difference in this video and the two clovis videos. Good coaches are always learning. They make the necessary adjustments to improve their wrestlers throughout the season. You are adding ideas that I didn't even mention. People naturally prefer winning to losing, but if a small school is very competitive and wrestles closely with a large powerhouse, then they have something to be proud of.

no, it is not a moral victory. selma may have won more matches in your imaginary dual, but nevertheless still lost the dual. would they be happy about it? i don't think so. so, you only learn when you lose a match? why not learn from every match? that is why clovis will always be superior. clovis learns from all situations, not just some.

Too much Pride? Champions thrive on challenges. When you lose, you also learn the reasons for it. A good coach can use the loss as a motivator to work on weaknesses. Lets say that Selma won 60% of the matches wrestled, but still lost a dual on b onus points. I think that would be like a moral victory don't you?

Let me correct you! Selma didn't win the Clovis Shoot Out the same year they won the Valley. Clovis West won that year's shoot-out. Selma won the shoot-out the year before. One reason why Clovis hates Selma, is because the Selma coach
challenged Clovis to a wresltle off at the last shoot-out but they refuse. This is despite the fact there have always been wrestle offs. In addition, the year before Selma was a visiting team, but place as a home team last season. What a coincidence! That's because Selma was a threat, that day, to Clovis undefeated record for that shoot-out.

Selma wrestlers are dedicated and deserve to be at all the biggest tournaments because they are one of the best small schools in the state. There problem is there coaches have big egos and have ruined it for them. In the last few years there coaches have been strutting around like peacocks. They did cuss and scream at the guy running the tournament no matter how much they deny it. I wasn't the only person who saw it. They seemed to be shocked that they couldn't weigh in, like they were so good they don't have to follow rules. Get it together coaches, you have an awesome team and they deserve way better.

I think it's unfortunate that one of the better teams in the STATE would be bann from competing in the Clovis events. I would think that Clovis would love to wrestle against the best teams. Bottom line, if you hate the Selma coaches that's understandable. They tend to be over zealous at times, but don't take it out on the kids. Just let them compete. If you really love wrestling that is what you will do.

when selma showed up for weigh ins at zinkin, the weigh ins were almost over. they were told they couldn't weigh in by the refs running the weigh ins. they found the guy running the tournament and chewed him out, cussing and screaming the whole time. i saw the yelling at the guy running the tournament, and listened to what they were telling him. they were the onese who said the refs wouldn't let them weigh in. i herd they did that at lots of tournaments over the last two years.

Selma went 7-0 at the shootout, Selma took 11 wrestlers to the Doc and 10 placed, this year they are a much stronger team with cisneros added to there line up, what do think why no selma.Zinkin banned selma for being 5 minutes late to their Tournment when it was foggy, 7:05 to be exact, in which two wrestlers from selma were supposed to wrestle two Buchanan, wrestlers and now you do the math. growup it was in 88-89 season when Selma won the Clovis West Shootout and won Valley! This past season Clovis did not refuse to duel it was home team against visiting teams! Which Clovis and Selma were both HOME teams that was the FORMAT!! Even though both teams did not lose Clovis scored more duel match points.

I always thought that wrestlers were respectful and honorable sportsmen. But that doesn't seem to be the case. I respect SELMA because they a small school
that can compete with large schools. Even Clovis refused to duel with them at the Clovis West Shootout. It would be embassing for Clovis to lose to SELMA the way they did back during the late 80's and 90's. Remember that Selma upset Clovis West back in 91 to be the only small to win the Valley. History has a way of repeating itself. If I were Clovis I would want to compete with the best teams, which includes Selma. Bottom line the teams should be respectng each other, because that's whats best for the sport and the kids. But coaches, parents, and fans ruin it by their immature behavior. Also, don't be upset because the Tirapelli Family is honest and will tell you how it is!! The Truth hurts those who can't deal with it!! Steve Tirapelli has coached 3 of his sons to become State Champs more than once so, obviously he's doing things right!! Adam Tirapelli is a National Champion & 3X All-American and it's an Honor to coach, wrestle with or for him!! Also, I'm a Assistant Wrestling Coach at Clovis High School.(Now on my 8th season) We have an excellent program here and every year us coaches try to make it better! We have a great coaching staff and none of our coaches recruit any kids outside of our Feeder Programs! I wrestled for Selma High and had one of the best teams ever in 1989, winning which is now the Valley/Masters! We should of won State but failed do to so do to lack of preparation! At Clovis High, coaching under Steve and Adam Tirapelli I've learned how to prepare our kids to win these post season meets leading up to the State Tournament! So, don't be upset because our system works and we produce kids that win!

They threatened one of the fresno school, I believe Hoover,or Roosevelt, also a couple of the southern schools for speaking up for themselves when they supposed to being quiet, during the seeding meeting.

Something is clearly wrong when a school with the talent that Selma has is blocked by an overbearing local school district representing 5 high schools from being invited to their tournaments. When will people see the light? They are hurting the sport locally, and basically sending out bad vibes to everyone else throughout the state. A friend who has been around the sport for years asked me why other teams just didn't boycott tournaments that ban certain teams. That sure caught me off guard, but I can see the logic of that kind of reaction. the title "Selma's shooting for 1st" should be changed to "Selm's been shot down 1st".

and we have people that are trying to hurt their reputation over something silly
stop the nonesence, stop trying to stir the pot, enough is enough, let these two coaches do what ever they can to help there team be state champions and move on, people will always hate successful people, you two coaches are awsome, I wish I had your problem.

The way to fix this problem between Clovis and Selma is easy. Just have Clovis annex Selma Unified into Clovis Unified, and BANG, problem solved. All the Clovis schools patronize each others tournaments because they have to. They have to show support for each other for appearances sake. They too have had their differences of opinion. So that leads me to believe that if Selma was a CUSD school, they would have to be invited to all the Clovis sponsored tournaments.

With all of this talk about Selma being banned from the Clovis tournaments, can anyone pinpoint exactly why? I would understand it if the Selma coach or team had problems with one particular tournament, but it is hard to envision the Selma people butting heads with all of the Clovis schools. Were any officials letters explaining this ban sent out?

I was at the Shootout match watching my son's high school team (Turlock) wrestle Selma and heard Coach Nasser call one of his young wrestler a piece of sh*t when he loss a match in overtime. Should I say more. This is not fabricated

Reason no Clovis tournament? Fabricated? Team arrives late to Zinkin and cusses out the athletic director. Too much whining at valley and masters. Too condescending toward us small schools. Too many good kids suffering because of bad behavior by coaches.

Buc won't be on top much longer. the coach is riding on someone elses coat tails right now. they left quite a legacy and i dont think this new guy can carry there jockstraps. since uncle steve controls most of the teams in his league with lame threats, i'm sure the other coaches followed along when uncle steve banned selma. ban them or don't come to doc b. team selma is suffering because their coach talked crap to the wrong person. it has nothing to do with race, only control of wrestling in the central valley.

I dont believe anyone is judging the selma coach by his ethnicity in this forum none that were directed as such.the ethnic directives were placed on the clovis coach and the forum overwhelmingly suggests he has a problem with others that may be a minority.Coach Hussein we are sure might have meant well however his mouth got him into trouble and thru this video he once again did not shut his mouth and got the grand dragon upset and once again the dragon formed alliances to keep good kids from competing.Maybe great venues like the Doc B should be taken away from the power munger power hungry dragon and given to another more worthy candidate.The clovis coach uses his power threatening other schools and telling them they wont be able to compete if they dont kiss his behind.
It's my humble opinion that schools should not attend his venue this year and support another venue

The videos are both great testimonies to their respective programs, but why the big differences and animosity? Clovis schools obviously have the most money, best facilities, outstanding feeder systems, and great coaches. How can Selma even begin to compete with them or Poway? It seems that Selma does very well indeed with just their local kids. I have not heard of any of them transferring in. Educate me if I missed something there. Clovis schools seem to pick up kids from outside of their areas on a regular basis. That has certainly helped their programs over the years. the latest on the wrestling grapevine is that a state finalist from one Clovis School is going to move into another Clovis School's boundary. At this point it is just another rumor.

All 3 Clovis High Athletes who went back to compete at the High School Nationals paid their own way back there.

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't some of the Clovis High wrestlers actually go back east to the senior tournament? If they did, then how did they pay for it? I am sure that the school kicked in for their flights and motel rooms didn't they.

Here is another problem. Some area coaches and their teams have been threatened to be dropped from the Doc Buchanan tournament on several occasions just because they disagreed or had issues with thew Clovis coach. That isn't very classy of him, or Clovis High School. That kind of attitude isn't in the best interests of the sport or CUSD. If it continues to happen, area schools will just simply choose to go to other tournaments, and let teams from outside of the area take their places. I also see some schools possibly offering to develop their own version of a prestigious local wrestling tournament, probably on the same weekend as the Doc Buchanan tournament. Class acts don't do that kind of thing. funnythis, I don't think that minorities is the real issue, at least in respect to the racial makeup of the team is concerned. It seems to be a win at all costs thing. Telling kids that you'll send them to the Senior National tpournament if they place in state is like dangling a carrot out in front of a horse for bait. The fact that the kids that were seniors and are Hispanic makes it look bad, particularly for a state champ team that supposedly has a lot of money earmarked for that kind of reward for great careers. But what do I know, maybe the wrestlers just didn't want to really go.

zamora and lopez were the move in guys they were disappointed with all of the money made at Doc B and western states which had to have been in excess of 15-20 grand the kids were told by coach steve that if they qualified they could go to nationals.

many have asked the same question why the minority boys who qualified were not given their due after they qualified for that tourney.could the coach possibly be the grand dragon he dont like minoritys so they were not flown out to the nationals

why did those minorities from the clovis team not get the same oportunity like all other clovis schools when it came to being flown to the high school nationals.all of the nighbor schools kids were paid for why not the clovis kids could it have been that steve was to tight with his money it would ruin his personal budget to fork out some money for others rather than himself and his family when his boys were qualifying for that tourney it was important then why is not important now ?

Selma gets along with all the other Clovis schools pretty well. Never heard anything crazy with CW,CE,or Buchanan. Clovis North gets along with the boys from Selma as well. I believe Selma even had Clovis North go over to practice with them to prepare for the masters or state I think.

Clovis has hidden issues with Selma, I don't think the problem is the Selma coach. I talked to nasser and he said if Clovis had a problem with him, they could have banned him from the tournament instead of kids. He is willing to stay home so his kids can wrestle. Let's talk about Buchanan and Clovis West, do they have issues with Selma or does Clovis have that much pull in their district?

Clovis Coaches are not to smart!!!! Everyone knows that the Selma head coach is not a very good coach. Why give the Selma Community more reasons to get rid of him? Now, they might make a coach change and they will definitely beat you guys next year.

The power house wrestling schools talk trash on the selma coach because he is standing for his athletes and not selling out, Selma is a hated club because they are good, coach Hussein is a man, he is just speaking out, and trying to live his dream on winning a state championship for his school thats all,and parents at selma need to respect him. Both parents and coaches are the key to success not failure.

What we need is to stop Bashing People and other schools. I have a lot of respect to coaches that spent numerous hours with kids, that parents don;t see.As far as Selma and Clovis unified gos, we do respect each trust me, I want to thank Clovis unified for setting the bar of excellence in wrestling, they push every school to the next level.We at selma are just trying to catch up with clovis. Cental Section wrestling is the best in the state and clovis are the state champions and congraduations on your acomplishments, but we at selma have a goal to and that is to be state champions thats all, If I offended anyone I apoligize and just want to move on and wrestle, I wish every school the outmost respect and luck in california, we will see you at state.

Selma is a great team and if there head coach is speaking for his wrestlers and not intiminaded by other powerhouse schools then why is it ok for other state champion schools speak their mind all the time.

Clovis and their staff are a class act, I believe if the Coaches met face to face at a neutral location this pety behavoir could get cleared up and they would allow their kids to compete together. Adults need to be Adult and not hurt the sport or the kids. Just Wrestle!

selma is a great program and proof u dont have to be from iowa, ohio, pa to be a top notch team seen them at tulsa and reno , all class, and very tough wrestlers keep it up :)

I wrestled for Clovis High and they work hard all year to get on top, but to say Selma Coaches only care about themselves is crazy. They have good quality kids and they did not become good overnight. They have coaches that care about the community and the sport of wrestling. They have a great youth program with parents and coaches that have dedicated alot of time and money. Problem is with the leader (Head Coach) or should I say the lack of leardership.

I'm sure there have been other coaches that have had some issues with the Clovis coaches but I guess the others weren't a small town team full of Hispanics. The big school was bullying the small school and it stood up to it. The so called bully called his bully friends(Clovis West and Buchanan)to help with the ban. One day all of the small schools are going to get together and fight back.

To bad Selma is 86 from the Clovis tournaments. I would of loved to see Cisneros wrestle in person in the Valley. The real shame is that the Selma kids, who are dedicated, motivated, respectful are really missing out. Maybe they can teach their Head Coach the same values.
