It had to have been really bad for him to drop out of the Olympics. He is a great guy and an unbelievable wrestler. We wish you well DC and I can't wait to get some good old Cajun food with you when you get back. reply

If one notes, on thematforums.com college one, a lot of posters compare their wrestling weights in hs/college/int'l to their weight today; some guys wrestled at 150 in college and weigh 165 now, some guys wrestled at 142, and weigh 220. I wonder if the extreme cutting and intense workouts lead to wrestlers being more or less fit years after... reply

He began the sport as a kid who had to be held back by his father Mark Churella a UM wrestling legend, from getting on the mat. His father wanted to make sure Ryan was going into wrestling for the right reasons. In high school went from not qualifing his freshman year for the Michigan state tournament to a high school national champion. In between that time he won state titles in Michigan. He followed his older brother to University of Michigan program and had great success there. Becoming an All-American and NCAA Runner Up.
