Kirk, I would put more credability to the first win and the best wrestler probably did win. If he did reach back (which it appears he did) and controlled the situation, by the rules it is a pin. However, was a reversal awarded, hense, a defensive pin. Thanks for the respect, I respect your opinion, too. Bottom line, stay off your back on offence or defence.

Steve. 1. It's not a fluke. 2. It is a control position 3. It wasn't a defensive pin because J reached back to grab his head to go for the fall. Defensive pin would have been called before J reached back. 3. Right now Jaggers is the better wrestler because he has beaten him two times this year. The first time was by a pretty big margin and then a pin. And while I respect the fact that you hate the rule. I love it.

I'm not going to address the not knowing wrestling comment. I'm also not arguing the call. It might have been legit based on the Rules. The video doesn't show it clear. The official was in good position to make the call. I just hate that rule. Wrestling is a control sport. I hate flukes and a majority of defensive pins I've seen are flukes. I saw one match where a kid had a guilotine and was cranking hard and both wrestlers shoulders were on the mat (I agrre poor offensive position) the fall was called and the official raised the defensive wrestlers hand to everyones surprise. Obviously there are more Ohio St fans commenting than Penn fans. I'm totally neutral. Hope they get to meet again to find out who is the better wrestler. Still hate that rule.

My son is a sophomore in high school and did the same exact move at our Northview Sectionals at Brazil Indiana on 26JAN08in the 135lb championship match! The ref wouldnt call what everyone else there saw, and he ended up loosing 4-1! Our home town(Sullivan, Indiana) news paper had a perfect shot of the pin in that mondays eddition! Crappy officials to say the least!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was sitting in the front row Tom Ryan's side and saw the pin just before he called it, sure is exciting to be a part of this thrill ride Ohio State has created with Tom and the rest of the coach's.

Yep, take a look at 17 seconds and play the action through a couple of times to let your eyes differentiate their upper bodies. Clearly on his back for plenty enough time, ref was right on top of it.

What a sad ending to what appeared to be a great match. Pins should require control. It looked to me like the offensive wrestler could have gotten off his back at any time but was working for near fall points. Hate that call. No glory in winning that way.

I disagree that "that's what wrestling's about", but there's no doubt it was exciting. I just wish OSU wrestling fans would actually open their mouths and cheer at home matches. St. Johns Arena was a stinkin' morgue all night... I could have done my chemistry homework it was so darn quiet.

I had a great view of the pin, i was exactly opposite of the camera angle and was only 30-40 feet away from the mat and Jaggers had him flat on his back... never seen a dual end this way before

Great Match !! From my angle in the arena I couldn't tell how good the call was. I'm biassed obviously , but from the video looks like a good call. It's the old rule, if you don't want the ref to slap the mat, don't be on your back !
GO BUCKS !!!!
