+ See More - See Less -Lennie Zalesky grew up in the heart of Iowa wrestling country but somehow only joined the sport as an afterthought in eighth grade. There was, however, nothing accidental about his success. He soon was so eager about getting better that he got some mat from his school to put in his basement. And together with his younger brother Jim worked and drilled as much as he wanted. His hard work paid off and became a state champion in Iowa and was soon recruited by Gable and the Iowa Hawkeyes. He spent the next 5 years of his career in the black and gold of Iowa.
At Iowa he went from 6-8 his freshman year to contending for a national title as a sophomore, junior and senior. He worked his way up and became a 2x all-American and two time runner-up. Coach Zalseky has traveled the world after college as a competitor and won numerous tournaments. He now resides in Davis, California and coaches for the UC Davis Aggies.
