Since taking over the program in the mid 1980s, Robinson has consistently built his base so that, year in and year out, he is competing for the national title. His hard work culminated in the 2001 and 2002 seasons when he coached teams that won back to back national titles.
After his 2001 and 2002 seasons, J Robinson, being one of the few coaches outside the states of Iowa and Oklahoma to win the coveted team national titles on the NCAA level, became a icon in the sport of wrestling.
